G'day gang...Happy 4th to you all. I recently purchased an 05 Pathfinder LE 4X4 and am coming up on 1500 miles. I have a couple of queries. How soon can/should I wait to convert to synthetic oil and what oil filter should be used if the OEM Nissan is not? I converted my 01 Maxima over to synthetic at around 2k miles (1st oil change) but I've since received conflicting info indicating I may have done so prior to full break in. I also use an oversized STP 6941 oil filter on my Maxima and have done so since that first oil change. Its probably too soon to expect that there is an oversized conversion realized for the Pathfinder, but if there is I know someone on here will be aware of it. Thanks in advance my friends.
Peace,
Stevie B.

You can switch over at any time. I'd wait until about 3k miles, only bc I think you'll be throwing good oil away. No need to worry about excessive break in metals in my opinion. Cars today really don't need sophisticated break-ins. At that point, switch to any synthetic you like. Mobil 1/Amsoil/Pennzoil Platinum etc. are all good choices.

I waited till after my second oil change to put syn in my 04 titan only because I feel its too early to put expensive synthetic in there with alot of break in happening so I waited. I dont think it would hurt anything I just feel it to be a waste of money that early. I am sure there will be different oppinions out there thats just my .2. The nissan oil filter is top notch and would not be a bad choice. Other than that I like napa gold filters(wix). Good luck with your new ride.
