Of course they are never going to publicly disclose their design criteria. But you can get a sense of it by the maintenance schedule. Like I said they test/design for 150k and it doesn't mean they will all fail at that point or that it won't go further. Just that their criteria is 150k.

You even said it - average vehicle life is 11.5* 12k = 138k. So already well within the design parameters.
 
Well in closing my own thread possibly, we purchased a Red 2010 Prius with 90,000mi. Leather seats and navigation with a backup camera. My wife is finally content.
