My 2.5 sorta slipped through the cracks. I knew that I needed to service it ..but other vehicle needs took precedence. This is the first UOA that this engine has seen. Obviously, it has seen mostly shorter trips. Occasionally the wife will do her 25 mile one way commute in it if her jeep is low on gas.
Test was performed by Blackstone Labs w/ Dyson analysis and particle count.

TBN 2.5
ISO Particle Count: 17/16/13,
Particles were:
>2 micron = 1,666,
>5 mu = 617 mu,
>10mu = 170,
>15 mu = 66,
>25 mu = 15,
>50 mu = 1,
>100 mu = 0.
My take. It appears that this 40 weight doesn't inhibit the characteristic Fe dandruff that these engines are known for. Otherwise, considering the service, my novice eye doesn't see anything too odd. PC looks decent (but what do I know
)
The crankcase was refilled with RTS and a PremiumPlus filter that I bought by mistake
The engine showed less consumption on this oil then either D1 (official D1-not T&SUV -for those who doubt) or Agip PC 5w-40. They showed about 1/2 quart at about 7k ..which was typically when I would change the oil. RTS held out till about 12m/8.5k to show less then full on the stick. I think the TBN did okay for a short trip engine over this duration.
Comments? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
