I ran this interval using 3oz. of Auto-RX as a maintenance dose and an Amsoil SDF-15 filter. The air filter was a Fram. FP was used during most of the interval. Vehicle had 54,598 miles when the oil was drained and the sample was taken.

From Blackstone Labs:

Al 3
Cr 1
Fe 20
Cu 4
Pb 3
Sn 1
Mo 5

I will definately be running AFL again next summer. Stay tuned for a 10k interval of GC in this engine.

Nice report. I want to try this in the summer months. I think this is a great 5w-40 to use.

You couldn't drive another 122 miles just to get it up to 10000?

(just kidding!)

This report looks great, things are definitely working well here! Silicon is very nice for a 10k run too! You should probably try for 12k next time.

As a perfectionist I was kicking myself after I drained it and realized it wasn't fully 10k. My memory isn't very good sometimes, and I remembered the wrong number for when I should drain it.

Another days drive to work would have put it 110 miles closer.

I think the silicon is pretty darn good also considering the fact that I live on a dirt road and it was a Fram filter.

Fram makes good air filters. You should continue to use them. It is the fram oil filters that you have to watch out for.

You're right, obviously the Fram filter did a good job and I shouldn't bash it. I have a Wix in there now. I typically change my air filters about every 15k.

You should leave them in longer! The longer you leave them in, the better they do. You could probably go 30k, even though you live in a dusty area.

Wow, 30k!! I would probably develop a nervous tick long before 30k! At 15k the filters look very well "dusted". My wife's subaru oiled-paper filters look downright nasty at 15k, with a large dark stain in the middle where the air comes in. Just like OCI, I have to work up gradually. It took me years of oil changing and a lot of BITOG therapy to do this pseudo-10k OCI. Maybe I'll let the next air filter go 20k. 30k intervals, that could take years.

Doesn't an oil anlaysis like this really nullify the so called experiment that was conducted by spacebear?

This really proves that extended drains are more than possible as long as you make sure the oil level stays topped up, and that you run good oil.

Keep doing what your doing.

I'm with you msparks. I have watched that study very closely since close to the beginning. I have some issues with it. Though in their defense I have to say at least someone is trying something. I drive way too much to be able to do one every 1000 miles or I'd give it a shot myself.

Can someone direct me to the link to that study I have lost it and I can't find it

These are undeniably good results. I had considered trying this oil in my G35 (VQ35 engine), but as with several other close possibles, I keep asking myself, "why bother" when I'm already having what appears to be super results with OTC GC/SLX. I'm not judging anyone else's choices, this is just my logic. I was still watching and waiting for results on this oil, and I'm pleased to see good numbers. I will be anxiously awaiting your GC results so we can compare same-engine performance.
