0 depreciation new ride...

That fits my jeep
I always assumed the FJ had the same 4.0 that’s in the 5th gen 4Runner since they were manufactured around the same time. I always assumed they were the same platform too. Like a Tahoe vs an avalanche.

The 4.0 in the 5th gen is a cartridge filter. I absolutely hate it.

Well, there is also the fact that you can't really use this purported future collectible, since miles only serve to degrade its value.
People buy quasi-collectible cars, like C5s, and pay a premium for low mileage. They then have a car that they can't drive and enjoy because putting miles on it makes it lose value.

That filter is part of the reason we bought an 07. 07,08,09 have the spin on filter on top.

The FJ Cruiser and 5th gen 4Runner do share the J150 platform, as does the Landcruiser Prado, and Lexus GX of that era.

The Single VVTi 1GR-FE has the top mounted oil filter. It is the engine in 4th gen 4Runners, 2nd gen Tacomas, and FJ Cruisers and Tundras up to 2009.

The Dual VVTi 1GR-FE has almost nothing in common with the older Single VVTi 1GR-FE, other than they are both 4 liter V6 engines. The Dual VVTi 1GR-FE was improved everywhere. It has a different block, crankshaft, cylinder heads, intake and exhaust, etc, etc. and a cartridge oil filter. It makes more power across the rev range, and is lower maintenance due primarily to it's hydraulic lash adjusted valvetrain. It was used in the 5th gen 4Runner. And 2010 and newer FJ Cruiser, and Tundra.

That is good to know. Maybe I should broaden my horizons and look for a Tacoma of that vintage when it comes to car shopping.
300k, rust, & a $10k price tag 🤣
Exaggerating a bit but you know what I mean about what's out there. I like Toyota's but have gotten a better low mileage vehicle outside of the "reliability brands". (y)

How???
Watch gm when they shut down a car maker they buy or own.. Pontiac G8 a clean low milage one ??? Holden Commodore aka chevy ss ?? 20% off after 4 month sales hold, 8 total cars on east coast,,, A stick shift 2017 model is now selling for MORE than cost in oct 17...A great ride for 0 depreciation after 8 years./.
Look for future collector cars, usually performance models..
The Chevy SS wasn't marketed in the USA and I don't think the manual was available the first year. The Pontiac gto is the same way.

l still love the look of old rally wheels, trim rings and hub caps. Made just about any sporty car look good....... even my cheap Toyota Celica fastback.
Very pretty wheel. I have a set of aftermarket Wheel Vintiques 16x8 chrome Ralleys with 255/50/16 Comp TAs. Makes the car sit nice and low... Perfect stance. The pictured wheels are the 1968 year only 15x7 size.

I think it looks perfect with the 15's. I'm not a fan of "rubber band tires' and big wheels although 16's aren't too big. I like some rubber between me and the road.
