Watch gm when they shut down a car maker they buy or own.. Pontiac G8 a clean low milage one ??? Holden Commodore aka chevy ss ?? 20% off after 4 month sales hold, 8 total cars on east coast,,, A stick shift 2017 model is now selling for MORE than cost in oct 17...A great ride for 0 depreciation after 8 years./.
Look for future collector cars, usually performance models..

Collector cars cost a lot to own. You gotta house 'em, insure them, etc. My old Vette is worth a lot; maybe even half of what I have in it.

This.

Except for current super rarities or cars that just have crazy followings (e.g. Porsche GT(x)), collector cars are for enjoyment, not an investment and few if any "common" cars will ever reach investment potential. For the vast majority of us, just buy what you want to drive.

Yeah, especially because a garage is for tools and assorted useless junk. Forget that collector...

It is those cars specifically. Try buying a clapped out Caprice PPV. 9 grand easy with big miles. I have seen rollers sell for 5000 to 6000.
Clean ones can sell for more than I paid for my 2014 never in police service Caprice with 12,000 miles on it back in 2016 at 20,000.
It is because they are RWD, LS powered, 4 door sedans. Not too many of those around in the past 20 years.

My Prius Prime held its value for probably its first 80k miles. There were all sorts of incentives, coming from every direction, to buy that car. VW (dieselgate) even chipped in a grand!

Saw a few on FBM with 1000 miles, obviously having taken advantage of said incentives.

I think most anything with a manual transmission should hold value over time. They keep getting rarer.

$0 depreciation, for me, is the car I keep until it quits permanently or costs way too much to repair something major & overall condition is poor. I still get transmissions rebuilt etc. This sort of post is like for a classic car dealer interest level but they already know what to buy.
