    Rotella for 2019 Powerstroke??

Is it safe to use Rotella T6 5W-40 in a 2019 6.7L powerstroke? What about Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40? It's hard to believe that Ford had to make its own oil spec because every oil blender has concluded that CK-4 has better wear protection than CJ-4, everyone except ford

    Maxlife ATF for +4 application

Can you use Maxlife synthetic ATF to replace +4 type ATF? It would be for a 2017 Ram 2500 5.7L gas with 6 speed auto. Thinking of drain/fill and filter change at 70k miles since it is used for a lot of towing.

    AT-205 Re-Seal for 1968 VW Bus?

Would you try AT-205 Re-Seal in a 1968 VW bus for a few-drips-a-day leak? It is supposed to be safe for all rubber seals as it is 100% diethylene glycol monoethyl ether (Carbitol solvent) which is a plasticizer. I've read a lot of positive reviews about how it's actually not snake oil, but I was...

    10W-30 for hyundai elantra?

2007 Elantra, 2.0 I4, 150,000 miles. Manual states 5W-20 or 5W-30 for all temps and that 10W-30 can be used above 0F. Has anyone had any problem with using 10W-30? I'm switching to synthetic and am going to use Valvoline Maxlife Full Syn as well as 10W-30 to minimize the possibility of leaks...

    Transmission out at 78k miles

2010 Chevy Equinox. Bought used with 70k miles last May. After 8k miles in our possession, the trans had major internal failure. It started revving up like it was slipping and by the time we made it home it was bucking and barely moved forward. Then it wouldn't move forward or backward and did...

'99 CRV Diff fluid change damage

1999 Honda CRV with 228k miles. Honda Real Time 4WD. Have no records of diff fluid ever being changed. Was told by a mechanic that it could cause damage by changing it at this point, similar to brown, metallic ATF that would cause all kinds of problems if changed. I have never heard of this in...

    XC90 air filter recommendation

2014 Volvo XC90 3.2L I6. What brand is the closest in quality/efficiency to OEM? I found a deal on NAPA for the MAHLE filter for $45.59

    No center tube

In theory, could a filter media with wire backing (fram ultra, wix xp) be strong enough without a center tube at all? It would need metal end caps for the media/wire to be glued into with a resin. Without a center tube, there would be less flow restriction.

    Engine Flush at 50k miles

2017 Ram 2500 5.7 Gas nearing 50k miles. I want to do a flush to keep the engine as clean as possible before sludge/varnish forms. I'm going to drain the old oil and add 6 quarts of fresh cheap conventional with a quart of Gunk motor flush. Idle 15-20 min, drain and put in PP 0W-20 and napa...

    Royal Purple Synchromax

Where can I find it at? Ive looked in all of my local auto stores and they only have the 75W-90 and 140 gear oils. Ive seen reviews that it is the best for shift quality in many transmissions. Better than oem, amsoil, and redline in some cases. It is made specifically for manual trans that spec atf.

    0W-40 or 5W-30?

In a 2010 chevy equinox with the 2.4L direct injection engine, would you use d1g2 5W-30 or 0W-40 m1, castrol, pp euro, rotella? It will be used for a 1400 mile round trip in a few weeks carrying max capacity of passengers, cargo, and a bike rack with 5 bikes. I want to know if 0W-40 would cause...

Engine oil used for hydraulic system

I have a big dog diablo mp mower and it's time to change the hydraulic oil and filter. In the manual it says to never use hydraulic fluid in this system, and to only use motor oil. It recommends SAE 20W50 but it doesn't mention any specs the oil must meet. It says to change the oil and filter...

    Oil filter recommendation for FX850V

I have a big dog diablo mp commercial mower with the Kawasaki FX850V engine. The mower is used once or twice a week, but it is run at max capacity for 4-5 hours nonstop each time. I want to get the best protection possible for the engine. I will be using rotella t6 for the oil, but I'm not sure...

Mitsubishi Endeaver 3.8 V6 oil type

I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor with 187k miles. It is fwd with the 3.8L V6. Recommended viscosity is 5w-20. The last oil change I used pennzoil platinum 0w-20 for the winter and 10 min short trips. However, it has leaked/burned a quart in 5k miles. Also, it is pretty noisy. Should I step up...

    G-05 in a 2000 Saturn

I have a 2000 saturn sl1 with 165k miles. The coolant in it now is the generic green and it's been in there for at least 4 years. I'm going to do a flush and refill. The recommended coolant is dexcool, but I was going to use Zerex G-05 instead. Are there any problems with doing this? Also, has...

    5w20 vs 5w30 in kia 2.4L

I am getting ready to change the oil on a 2012 kia sorento with the 2.4L inline-4. It has about 150k miles and my friend who drives it goes up and down a mountain everyday. Engine was rebuilt 20k miles ago. The manual recommends 5w20 OR 5w30 for all temps. I am thinking of getting castrol edge...

    Fram Ultra flow restrictive?

I am wondering if the extreme efficiency of the fram ultra (99% @ 20, 94% @ 10, and I even heard someone say 80% @ 5 microns) would create a large pressure differential and cause it to bypass often. The bypass valve is extremely flimsy and easy to push because of the weak spring and plastic...

Valvoline synpower/ maxlife synpower OCI miles??

How many miles can valvoline synpower/ maxlife synpower last? Can it safely go 10k? 15k? Regular synpower has a TBN of 9.3. Synpower with maxlife technology has TBN of 9.0.

High mileage synthetic oils in new engine

At walmart, pennzoil platinum and PP HM are the same price. Also, valvoline synpower and synpower with maxlife are the same price. Valvoline says that you can use their synthetic maxlife oil in a new engine, and it would help prevent high mileage problems before they occur. They also say that...

    Wix XP efficiency

Does anyone have a UOA that can prove that a Wix XP actually filters 50% at 20 microns? I cannot believe that any fiberglass media would filter that poorly. If it did filter that poorly, wouldn't we see a huge increase in wear?
