    Ford Yellow compatibility

So i had to have the ecoboost in my 2014 F150 replaced. They put in “Maxlife 50/50 Antifreeze” according to the invoice and some random thermostat. Well i noticed after getting the truck back that it was running hot so i called and they said they would replace the t-stat with a motorcraft...

Walmart didnt ship the latest QS Euro 5W-40

So I ordered QS Euro 5W-40 from Walmart for my F150 Ecoboost because of the API SP rating, however, what I got was the older QSUD Euro 5W-40 which is API SN Plus The UPC code is the same as the newer stuff. Does anyone know if the oil is the same? And if not, should I just run it anyways?

    Mix and match in 1UR-FE.

I’ve got this fine selection of oils laying around that probably wont get used otherwise: The Supertech and Mobil are SP, Castrol is SN+, and PUP is SN. I can probably get rid of most of this oil in my Lexus GX460 next change but wanted to get the consensus about mixing.

    Remote Oil Cooler Temps

I have an Improved Racing oil filter sandwich adapter with a built in thermostat that is connected to a Setrab oil cooler. The current thermostat bypasses the oil cooler until 200F when it starts to open. It is fully open at 221F. Improved racing also has a 180F thermostat that is full open at...

1/2 Ton trucks and cooling sytem performance

Just curious what experience people have had with their half-tons in terms of cooling system performance? My backstory is that I have a 2014 F150 Ecoboost with the max-tow package. I tow a 5500 lb travel trailer. While the engine has power for days, I constantly struggle with cooling issues. I...

    Filter pressure drop

This may be a dumb question but is there any concern around aftermarket filters causing greater pressure drop across the media? Lets assume for a second that the bypass valves open at the same pressure, should I ever be worried about using say, a Fram filter vs an OEM Toyota or Motorcraft...

    Water pump question

I recently ordered a water pump for my 2014 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. I know I ordered the correct pump, and the packing slip that came in the box had the correct number, but I believe the company made a mistake and sent me a pump for a non-turbo 3.7L. The only visible difference between the two pumps...

Difference between different oil weights with similar HTHS?

I am having trouble wrapping my head around the idea of oil weight vs HTHS. I understand that basic difference, but what difference would I get from different weight oils that have similar HTHS. Lets just say, for example, that I could go buy a regular 5W-40 and a stout 5W-30 Euro oil that have...

Thoughts on 3.5 Ecoboost that pulls

I have a 2014 F150 Ecoboost, and I work it like a rented mule. I live in Utah at 6500' and I tow a full size travel trailer that weighs in at 5500 lbs. So I am pretty much always towing at elevations north of 5000', often in high temperatures(90+F, up to 100F), and often fighting a headwind, and...

    ‘95 4Runner with 22RE

I picked up a ‘95 4Runner with the 22RE and 5 speed manual maybe 8 months ago. I ran it for a little bit on the oil the guy had in it but then did a change to Supertech FS 5W-30 High Mileage and a Fram Ultra XG8A after a couple months. There does seem to be some oil consumption issues as i have...

Oil for Stage 2 2007 Legacy GT

Hi Everyone, I am looking for a recommendation on the 2007 Legacy Spec.b (2.5L Turbo Boxer) that I just purchased. The car has 37000 miles with all documented oil changes. Based on the cost of the changes it looks like it was synthetic however I couldnt tell you the brand. The car is currently...
