    Napa Gold 1641 Bypass

Does anyone know the efficiency rating on this filter? The Micron Rating is 12 microns and I think this is the Nominal Micron Rating. Whats the media like? Is it thick or just the same as a 1515?

    Mobil 1's Oil Filter Rating

I was wondering what the actual Micron rating of Mobil 1 Oil filters are. On there website they say that the filters are 99% efficient on the ISO 4548-12 Test. At what Micron are they 99% efficient?

    80w-90 GL-4 For a 1945 Ford 2N

I have known for some time now that what is supposed to be run in these old 1939-1954 N Series tractors is a GL-4 rated gear oil. And the reason is because there is brass in the trans or hydraulics right? And a GL-5 rated gear oil contains some kind of additive that causes damage to the brass...

Why A Conventional Over a Synthetic Gear Oil?

I work at a shop in SLO CA and the other day I went to a shop that rebuilds rear ends and diffs to pick up some parts. I noticed that they only seemed to have conventional Valvoline gear oil and no synthetics. I asked a tech what they use in their rebuilt diff units and he told me just regular...

Running a Platinum Plug in a OE Copper Core ENG.

What is the thought on running lets say an Autolite single platinum spark plug in an engine that came from the factory with a copper core non platimum spark plug? Is it good or bad?

    OCI Time or Mileage?

I've been spending a little time researching this and havent found much. Now if someone puts less than 3k miles a year on a 91' F-250 460 and is running Castrol GTX 10w-30 what's the recommendation for a OCI? Since the mileage is low I would imagine it is going to be time based. Is once a year...

    Full Flow as a Bypass

I'm thinking about plumbing in my 3/4-16 Full Flow filter mount on my 1945 Ford 2N Tractor to replace the original canister filter that takes a Wix 51010 bypass filter rated at only 32 microns and running a Full Flow like a M1-301 or a 51515 Wix. Does running a Full Flow as a bypass cause any...

Wix Bypass Filter 51010 Rated At 32 Microns

It is a bypass filter after all so why dont they make it filter at least 10 microns like a 51050? A 51515 full flow filters much better than a 51010 bypass.

    When To Change Magnefine

I Installed a 3/8" Magnefine filter about 2k miles ago on a 94 Mercury Sable AX4S trans and the fluid had been changed 10k before I installed the filter. The trans is a Ford Reman and has 105k miles on it. So I'm thinking that it may be a good idea to change the Magnefine because the fluid had...

OCI for 94' Mercury Sable 3.0

6K miles so far on this current OCI and I'm running Napa Premium 10w-30 dino and a Napa Gold filter. I've added 3 qt's so far and just curious if by adding a quart every 2K miles makes it easier for extended OCI's.

    When to Change Magnefine?

I'm going to be installing a Magnefine on my Ford AX4S transmission that has 100K miles. It has been 8K miles since a flush and pan service so I'm wondering when I install it how long I should leave it on because I'm thinking I should change it after it picks up most of the stuff that has been...

    Using Older Filters

What is the opinion on using filters that have sat in inventory for over 3 to 4 years. The reason I ask is that most if not all the napa stores around here have Magnefines but you can tell they are at least a couple of years or more old.

Full Flow Then a Magnefine After Too Much Restrict

Would installing a full flow filter like a Napa Gold 1773 or 1515 with a remote mount and then installing a magnefine right after the filter be too much restriction in a cooler line? The oil in the trans is Mobil D/M and has about 8K on it and I'm thinking about this setup because of the higher...

    Is a Magnefine Worth It?

Is a Magnefine filter worth it for a Ford Remanufactured AX4S trans with 100K miles?

    AMS Oil Quality?

Fords TSB Against Installing a Magnefine

I was needing to order a Magnefine filter kit from the Ford dealer and the parts manager told me Ford has a TSB out to not install Magnefine filters on transmissions anymore. Does anyone know about this?

Motorcraft SYN Gear Oil Better Than Mobil 1?

I once heard that Motorcraft Synthetic Gear oil is a better choice than Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear oil. Is there any truth to this? Motorcraft Gear oil is definately more expensive.

    ATF Recomendation Please

I have a 1994 Mercury Sable with the 3.0 Vulcan and a AX4S Transmission. The car has 196,000 miles and the Reman Tranny has 94,000 miles. I have been using Mercron specified ATF for the life of the reman transmission and have read that Ford recomends using Mercron V fluid over the Mercron spec...

    Frantz Adapter Running Magnefine

I've got a Frantz adapter installed on a transmission cooler line and instead of a TP filter installed I have a Magnefine Trans filter with fluid flow coming from the Frantz adapter. Now what my question is, is this. Is having a Magnefine hooked up this way a bad idea? I know I do not have 100%...

Donaldson Endurance For a Transmission Filter

I have been doing a little research on Donaldson Endurance Oil filters and have found some on the Donaldson site that have a 99% Efficency at 15 microns. I have got a 3/4-16" filter base but can't find a Donaldson Endurance Oil filter with 3/4-16" threads. I am wanting to make a filter setup for...
