OCI for 94' Mercury Sable 3.0

There was a thread on here a few years ago, a guy running 18K OCI on a Geo Prizm because of the amount of oil he was adding. I can't recall exactly, but the UOA didn't look that bad...
 
at the same time no because the insoluobles are still building up and the filter is loading up also. My pet theory is "no" because I am guessing contaminants dont all burn or leak out, so the ration between oil added and contaminants probably is not linear.
 
Sooner or later the filter will probably clog up and the bypass valve open and then you can run the beast with unfiltered oil and never, ever know it. That would not make me feel too good to do that.
 
Any cheap filter and name brand motor oil will do better at 5K OCI than extended OCI with expensive synthetic and filter. Only at extreme cold temp and racing condition make sense to using expensive things.
 
I've shared this before here, but we had an old farm truck that leaked oil fast enough that we never changed the oil, for years. I don't recall the oil begin changed at all during the '80s.

What are the insoluobles?
