    Odd Mercedes oil spec email

While browsing the MB Bevo oil spec 229.51 on their website I discovered that there are several Castrol Edge oils on the approval list. One in particular is "regular" SN Edge 5w30. MB requires low SAPS oil carrying the 229.51 approval due to the vehicle having a Gas Particulate Filter. There are...

New 2019 Ram 1500 oil changes?

I've been running Kendall GT-1 full syn 5w30 since the first oil change at 2000 miles on my 2019 RAM (5.7 hemi). I change it every 5k miles and use a Wix Xp filter. It now has 20k miles on the odometer. MDS works without issue and the engine runs flawlessly. The engine would tick for about 3...

    New Mercedes Oil Recommendations

So I completed my first oil change with the Kendall Euro+ 5w30 (4k miles). Engine seems to like it. This MB 2.0 turbo ran a little raspy (although I've read that MB motors tend to run a little more angrily than Asian motors). Runs smoother now. Could be placebo effect but it does seem to run a...

    Mercedes Benz Low SAPS spec

I am researching motor oils to use our new Benz. Mercedes spec is MB 229.51 low SAPS oil. The only oil I can find locally is Pennzoil Euro L. Our local stores don't carry any Mobil 1 with that spec and the MB dealership is over an hour a way. I plan on changing my own oil. I'm a huge Kendall...

    New Mercedes Oil Recommendations

I really appreciate all the input. So I browsed the MB Bevo site recommended by Egg_Head and found an oil I'm a huge fan of. I'm a big Kendall Syn fan. Been using it for years and it has served me well. Kendall Euro + 5w30 is on the Bevo list. The 5w40 Kendall, interestingly enough, is not. So I...

Thanks for replies. I'll pick a good synthetic 5w40 Euro oil that meets the spec.

    New Mercedes Oil Recommendations

Good morning to all. We purchased a new MB last weekend and, of course, one of the first thing I did once we returned home was to grab the manual and determine which oil grade Mercedes recommends. Interestingly, MB only recommends a spec. I have been unable to locate any information on the oil...

    New RAM diff oil?

I appreciate the replies. I'll change it out at 10k. Good advice on getting rid of the break in particles. It does have the limited slip diff so I'll get the additive as well. The owner's manual says mopar synthetic. Anyone know who makes their oil? Just curious.

    New RAM diff oil?

Good morning, Does anyone know if factory fill for differentials in the 2019 Rams is conventional or synthetic? Looking to keep this truck for a while and want to switch the diffs to synthetic if they come filled with conventional.

Should I run 5w30 in my ram hemi for towing

Congrats on the new RAM! I also bought a 2019 RAM Limited. I too was kicking around the idea of running 5w30 Synthetic. I read on several RAM forums those advocating for and those against 5w30. I just performed my first oil change and I used Kendall GT-1 full syn 5w30. I figured I'd give it a...

    Kendall Motor Oil

I've been using Kendall GT-1 Synthetic for years in our 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, 2012 Kia Forte, 2016 Kia Cadenza and 2013 Dodge Dart. Just did the first oil change in our 2017 Hyundai Tucson 1.6 Turbo. It's great oil. I use 10w-30 full syn in everything but the Dart, that gets 5w-30. No issues...
