Which high mileage oil to use?

Well I replaced the VC gasket Friday night and swapped my plugs out Sunday. I checked the plugs again Sunday night and the same one had oil on it again. If it's something internal, I'm not going to bother with it. [censored] the car still gets 43mpg!

Which high mileage oil to use?

I don't remember exactly how much oil I put in, but it's at least a quart between changes (which I do every 4-5k miles). I just fixed 2 leaks at the distributor and valve cover, but there is another leak (I think it is the oil pan). It doesn't smoke at all, but while changing my plugs yesterday...

Which high mileage oil to use?

I have a 96 Civic with 218k miles on her. I am wanting to switch from regular Pennzoil 5w30 to a high mileage oil. My question is, which one would be better? I am looking at either Castrol GTX HM or the Valvoline Maxlife. The car has been consuming a fair amount of oil in the past year or so...

    Best Conventional Oil?

Honestly, it doesn't really matter. As long as you change the oil 2-3 times a year, it's all the same, IMO. I have neglected my Civic in the past, running Supertech with a Fram filter for thousands of miles, and I have just recently began taking better care of it. But the car has 190k miles on...

Can PP go for 6000 miles before being changed?

You will be fine. I've gone longer than that on dino juice and my car is going on 190k miles. You're just wasting your money if you change out synthetic too often.

    Checking Oil Level

I check mine cold, after the car has sat for awhile or overnight. Sometimes it takes awhile for all the oil to drain back into the pan after driving, and that's likely why it read lower on the dipstick after your short trip.

    Best oil for HyperMiling

To be quite honest with you, I don't think it matters at all, as long as there is some oil in the engine. Just keep it full of whatever you like, and you won't have any problems, IMO. Heck, I've run my Honda 3 quarts low before and nothing happened. Yeah, I know it's bad, but I used to be pretty...

What oil/oils have made your engine more quiet?

Lucas Oil Stabilizer will quiet down a noisy engine, but it is pretty thick. I use it in my '64 CJ-5 to keep the noise down in the valvetrain, and I use their gear oil in the tranny to keep it quiet as well. Works good.

    HyperMile

I hypermile all the time in my Civic, doing the things you just stated, and my mileage has increased from 38-40mpg up to 50-52mpg. All the negativity towards this style of driving is rediculous to me. I'm like the OP. I only engine off coast on back roads or when there is no traffic around me...
