Kobalt vs Autozone Duralast Ratchet Wrenches

I have found the Duralast ratcheting wrenches to be a pretty solid tool. Unfortunately they skip many sizes , so they stay at home. My Matco ratcheting wrenches stay at work.

    Current KIA dealership bulk oil

At my KIA dealership our oil is a syn blend from Coastal. We have bulk tanks of 5w-20 and 5w-30. Our full synthetics both 20 and 30 weight are from MOC and are Dexos approved. I guarantee you the Service manager has no clue what oil they use , as that is ordered and filled by the parts...

These "service champ" and "milegard" filters are a joke. I see at least 1 or 2 a day on KIA's. They are nearly have the size as a KIA oem filter. They feel like a tin can as well. Hyundai/KIA filters are stout filters with solid silicon drain back valves. I cant see why anyone would not use them.

    PICS: 93k miles spark plug

Looks good , but the gap is wide on those plugs. Id throw new OEM plugs in and go another 100k.

2015 Hyundai Sonata 6 speed ATF?

I'd say stick with Hyundai/KIA SPIV fluid. The OEM fluid cant be much more cost and is guaranteed to perform as designed.

    Kia Rio ATF Change/Flush

Do not do a full flush. My dealer stopped using our flushing machines due to concerns it was ruining trans. This procedure is fairly easy , remove the drain plug on the trans. This should be a 24mm bolt, about 3 quarts will drain. Reinstall the plug , torque spec is about 30 or so and fill with...

    Nut drivers

I keep a couple nut drivers in my box , 8mm and 10mm. Like Trav said nothing a spinner cant take care of. I did lose my 10mm 1/4 socket the other day though doing a recall of a door latch. Socket fell off into the door , I was [censored] but a 10mm craftsman socket isnt worth taking a whole door...

    Finding a good impact

Im gonna suggest something different. I have a Husky brand 800 ft pound gun from home depot as my main gun. It has been beat to beat to death the past 6 months , has all the power you really need. It cost 100 bucks , it has a 2 year replacement warranty with it. If it goes south , just go into...

What oil goes into 42RLE/45RFE Jeep Transmission??

As far as I know there is no substitute for ATF+4. Im sure the Pentosin fluid is very good however it is not ATF+4. I have serviced many 42rle and 545rfe trans and the only thing I would ever put in it is ATF+4. Im not familiar with the auto industry in Brazil , is there not a mopar/fiat...

Fair Warning to all Snap-on ratchet owners

Honestly I have found Air Compressor oil to be the best lube for a fine tooth ratchet. Never seen a swollen seal and it does a fair job keeping the guts clean and lubricated. I figure if its good enough for my impacts , why not my ratchets. Coarse tooth thats a different story , they get superlube.

12 point versus 6 point wrenches

There are alot of variables that go into this subject. Both the size of the fastener and the quality of the wrenches are the two biggest factors in my opinion. Smaller size fasteners are more prone to damage from a 12 point socket or wrench. A very high quality 12 point box end is much much less...

    DIY combination wrenches

Check out Tekton full polish wrenches on Amazon. You will be hard pressed to find a better wrench at that price. I have seen gearwrench non ratching wrench sets near that price on amazon as well.

    Torque Specs

There is a time and place for a Torque Wrench , is it on every fastener....no. There are key fasteners that to me need to be torqued, granted this is my opinion so take it or leave it. Major suspension bolts I torque, spark plugs I torque , engine gaskets I torque , brake caliper mounting and...

    ScannerDanner, where are you?

I have seen this in a Jeep 4.0L before. It was a very dirty MAP sensor , granted this was a speed density system. I fixed the same issue with a thorough cleaning of the MAP sensor with electronics cleaner. Without seeing the data , I would start at the basics. Change the fuel filter if it is due...

Interesting test on various 1/2" ratchets

I have the Duralast 1/2 and all 3/8 and 1/4 ratchets they offer. For the value I dont think they can be beat. They are a shameless copy of the Snap on 936 ratchet , however they are a superb copy at that. I am constantly impressed with their quality. I often times find myself reaching for these...
