    Men vs women

A woman was cleaning out her attic one day when she stumbled upon some old black-and-white photos of her and her husband when they were first dating. Her eyes got misty as she recalled the affection they'd shared so many years ago. She decided to show them to her husband when he got home as a...

Neutral with e-brake on. Every time, all the time.

How did you *decide on* your wife?

Thanks all for the advice! Everything helps. Been feeling better about it lately. Getting my head sorted out. Not sure about Star Trek, but she does love Lord of the Rings. And not (only?) for hunk gazing. And she has a 79 Power Wagon that she can just about rebuild on her own. I may be onto a...

Why are Chevron/Havoline Syns so hard to find?

We have a Chevron refinery in town too, and the only place you can find Chevron lubes is in their gas stations. Even that is usually just 5W30 and 10W30 dino/syn plus 15W40. Never seen anything at Walmart or any big chains, though one local auto chain stocks Havoline.

How did you *decide on* your wife?

In honor of the similar recently-revived thread... I'm looking to propose to my girlfriend next weekend (it's her birthday). She's an awesome girl, but part of me is just scared poopless. I've lived at home all my life, and the thought of mortgages and kids is enough to send me running for the...

    propylene glycol or ethylene?

Propylene glycol should be fine to use if that's what you want. Most coolants use ethylene because it's cheaper, but propylene is less toxic. Both work fine at cooling your engine. It's the 1825M requirement that I would worry about, which I think is about aluminum compatibility.

    Synlube MSDS

I'm sure there's a simple explanation. Like they packed up the refinery and moved it to the dark side of the moon. Just before this DoE guy wrote the email. Then they erased his memory. See? Simple.

You break it, you buy it?

If I broke something in a store, I'd expect to pay them back for it. What if some random dude walks in, shoves over a rack of bottles, and runs off? Just and carry on?

What is your Favorite Song of All Time?

Fast Car by Tracy Chapman. Guess it suits my mindset. Poignant and thoughtful. And yet Rock Superstar by Cypress Hill takes second. Did I mention I like many kinds of music? Or maybe Metallica, Wherever I May Roam, the greatest metal song ever.

    +1

I don't mind them. If I write something and nobody replies, I'm not sure if people agree or just have no opinion. Saying +1 gives encouragement to the poster.

    Ok I have a complaint.

I don't mind the mouseover ads. I haven't yet accidentally swung over it. I don't care either way.

another funny "just add oil" story

My Metro got to the point it would burn a quart in 300 miles (300, not 3000). I still did oil changes since the oil ended up quite dark despite weekly topups. I did stretch the OCI out to about 6k miles or so. His car will keep running for a while yet.

vanadalism o stealing a wiper blade?

The local Liquidation World sells wipers for $2. Most are oddball sizes, but there are still plenty of empty cases where someone swiped it out of the box. Is $2 too rich for their blood? The world doesn't owe you free wipers. I don't get it.

    Should I buy? 5 qt 20w50 Quaker State. $4.50

Maybe use QS 5W20 for thinning it out to keep concerns about different oil chemistry to a minimum. But honestly you could use just about anything. It might not be ideal, but the odds of trouble are quite small. I'd go for it.
