i very often do the same. put it up on ramp or ramps the night before. this saves time, too. if the drain in on the side, i use one ramp only, to tilt the car that way. if drain on back, i use two ramps to drain the maximum possible oil.

you need to open the throttle a bit before the upgrade. the speeding up will get up the grade without a downshift, because the higher rpm is also associated with more torque. you have to anticipate it a bit, and then you avoid the downshift.

Reverend, the 85-90 is based on you going down the Autobahn at 150 mph for hours on a regular basis. for driving in North America, ANY synthetic or semi synthetic 75 90 will do the job nicely.
