    Lucas Slick Mist

Absolute best spray detailer IMHO is Auto Magic's Magic Mist. It's a carnauba-based spray detailer that's absolutely fantastic. Once we had a car show indoors under mercury vapor lights, and any fine scratch in the paint stood out like a sore thumb. Those kind of lights are the greatest...

    Dashboard "Duster"

I got a California Dash Duster as a gift once, and it works great. Very pleased with the results. As for protectant, I'm still working on my gallon of Auto Magic's Magic Dressing. It's a very thick white silicone/water based dressing. I thin it about 50% for interiors, and about 75% for engines...

How often can you use a porter cable random orbita

Also, to ask for protection from the elements from a film of something that's 1/100th the thickness of a dollar bill is asking a lot. That's also a good place to point out that the common myth that a paste wax lasts longer than a liquid is just that...A myth. All you're doing when you apply a...

    TW Ice attract dust?

So what product is the "leading brand"? More marketing hooey that translated just says "highly recommended by seller".

    z-best

As a detailer would say, why would you want to simply hide swirls. You want to heal them, not hide them.

    TW Ice attract dust?

Nanowax is decent. If you really want to try a fantastic product, give Liquid Glass a shot. I haven't been disappointed in it whatsoever. I've run it head-to-head against Zaino at car shows. No particpant or attendee could tell the difference between my car with Liquid Glass and another...

How often can you use a porter cable random orbita

If you're using a foam pad on a rotary, your likelihood of screwing something up is very unlikely. They don't develop the friction (and therefore heat) of a wool pad, so they're safer than a wool cutting pad, but since they're gentler on paint, they also don't work as well to remove big defects...

    TW Ice attract dust?

Like I mentioned in another post, Ice is mostly silicone, which is a bit "sticky", and will tend to attract more dirt and dust. Silicone products are exactly the way you mentioned. They look great for a short period of time. That's why dealers use silicone products...They're inexpensive, and...

Turtle Wax Ice Liquid Clay Bar (new)

A very thick mixed bucket of very good quality carwash soap does do a satisfactory job of lubricating the claybar. You should use at least 3 times as much soap as you would with a regular carwashing though. I've done this many times and have never experienced problem one. It's just a huge...

    Talcum to eliminate squeaks?

Either I'm an idiot and don't know where it is, or there isn't and edit button on this forum, but anyways...You can get saddle soap or neatsfoot oil at a tack store (they sell horse stuff) if you can't find it anywhere else. Here, I get it at Fleet Farm, but you may not have a store of this type...

    Talcum to eliminate squeaks?

Never heard of that. I always used some saddle soap or neatsfoot oil to get rid of any annoying leather to plastic squeaks. My Grand Prix was the worst for that in the rear seat...If I had rear passengers, it was terrible. I had aftermarket Katzkin leather in it. I tried a little dab of...

How often can you use a porter cable random orbita

No orbital polisher will create enough heat to ever burn paint. You could use it daily if you wanted to. You'd do the same thing as applying your wax or sealant by hand. Now, a high-speed rotary buffer on the other hand, should only be used when necessary to buff swirls and scratches out, and...

why waste corn by making ethanol?

And Consumer Reports also said that Fram oil filters are the best ones of those they tested. I've found that if CR wants something to do well, it does (read: advertising dollars, even though they claim they don't take bribes...Explain Fram and Turtle Wax) do well, and if they want it to bomb...

why waste corn by making ethanol?

I don't see that happening, but I suppose it's possible. I've read that ethanol can also be derived from sugar beets and yeild very well compared to corn. Sugarcane is probably the highest yeild crop for ethanol, but very few areas of the U.S. (if any) can support its long growing season and...

Special Oil for Chrsler Minivan FFV

They used to recommend a full synthetic oil that met a specific Mopar spec number, but have since rescinded that recommendation. They do however now tell you to follow the "severe" service schedule if using E-85 more than 50% of the time. I think it's more about the ethanol washing down past...

    Pennzoil Platinum or Schaeffer's?

Ok, now for a curve ball... How does Havoline stack up to either one of these? If I have to suggest a petroleum oil to someone, this is always what I recommend, based on both personal experience and the information I've gleaned here.

    Valvoline VR1 20W-50 vs. Brad Penn 20W-50

Personally I'd take Schaeffer's over either one of the two. My engine builder commented that when he switched from Kendall to Schaeffer's, he eliminated the problem he'd occasisionally get with cam bearings in the Chevy V8s. I wouldn't run Valvoline in a lawn mower. Just my 2 cents.

    Briteside (Amsoil) Miracle wash?

I'd use it like any quick detailer...Okay for in-between touchups, but nothing I'd want to tackle anything but minor dust or waterspots. Any gritty dirt needs to be rinsed off beforehand. There will never be a "waterless" carwash that works as good as a pressure washer or even a good ol'...
