    Anyone do anything old school?

I like older traditional stuff, but I won't fault someone for using new stuff either. for lots of people, a cell phone makes more sense than a home phone, a tablet or smartphone can replace a bulky land-locked PC for many people, and even record players aren't all that practical for everyone...

what do you think of off-brand sub-$100 tablets?

UPDATE: (and apologies for not following up questions) the tablets I got are MID brand, no serial #'s. my 4yo dropped his, screen shattered. my 10yo did 'something' to hers, the screen got a single hairline crack, I suspect it was from pressing the screen too hard. the 12yo still has his...

    Anyone do anything old school?

when I replace sections of cast pipe in my home, I am amazed at hoe they used to do things, like the lead joints, the labor involved. but it lasted pretty long (though I think the PVC will last A LOT longer...) I have soldered copper supply lines, but a sharkbite fitting makes it go SO much easier!

    Anyone do anything old school?

we like in a 120yo Victorian home, have a cassette player in my 20yo camry, have friction shifting on my steel bicycle, and still use a film camera sometimes. some of my 'new' stuff is old too; my digital camera is 10yrs old, my DVD player is 8yrs old, I listen to CD's, and don't have a mp3...

IDK how an independent can charge you such high prices when MSRP is common knowledge on the amsoil website.

chain out of spec and gear set bent with less than

which gears are bent? I ask because modern sprockets (on the crank) and cogs/sprockets (on the hub) are shaped with ramps and different tooth profiles which, to the uninitiated, look 'bent'. I used to have people coming in all the time with a new bike complaining of defects and bent gears when...

Gas prices, let the anal speak!

I live in PA on the NJ border; NJ gas is .20-.25 cheaper per gallon. if I fill up, I can save almost $4, by driving 4mi round trip, or if I'm running errands that way, it's a wash. it has nothing to do with being able to 'afford it' or not, money saved is money saved.

Dodge Power Wagon from Simon & Simon

years ago a friend and I had a long bed 2WD dodge w/ a 400 and a massive oil leak. we were going to put the 400 in a dart (until we realized it was beyond our circumstances), but anyway, we street raced a '80's hurst olds (or was it a 442? doesn't matter) one night and SMOKED him, literally and...

Accidentally Drove through EZ Pass Lane - Now What

I loaned my brother my EZpass once, and he got a ticket mailed to him; his plate did not match my EZpass. I had to look up my account, find out if they charged me (they did) and then cross-reference it with the time they claimed on the ticket; it was ONE second apart. they told me this happens...
