Huh. Me too then.

I can Pickles, we only go out to eat ~2 times a year, use coupons, on and on...

for me I am old school in a lot of ways. my wife and I do not own a smartphone. we do not text each other or other people. I actually pick up the phone when I need to communicate with other human beings.I talk to my neighbors and interact with them ( as in help them if they need assistance) still use bar soap in our house. biggest old school feature is we live by the golden rule, not falling victim to the self absorbed movement going on these days. I would say that instant gratification does not exist in my life and I am a lot better person because of it.being truly happy in your life is all that we can ask of ourselves and I feel I have attained that.

I have a pair of plaid bell bottoms and a leisure suit hanging in my closet. Never too late for these fads to come back, is it?

The other week I suggested to my high school sweetheart, wife of 36 years that we hop in the back seat of the car to evoke the heat and passion of year's past. She told me I would have to move her walker out of the way first.

I'll drink Schlitz and Old Style every now and then.

I never knew bar soap is considered old school, but if it is, count me in.

I'm beginning to think paying off a credit card every month is old school these days.

+1 here, I do the same. I also drive a regular cab 2 wheel drive pick up truck.

I'm not a real old-school type of guy - I like my modern razors, smart phone, automatic transmissions, mp3 players, etc. I can drive a stick, and I can start a car or truck that uses a hand choke, I just don't currently have any.

That said, I'm a plumber, and a lot of plumbing is still pretty traditional. I have yarning and caulking irons, and I know how to join hub-and-spigot cast iron with oakum and lead. I can cut cast iron pipe with a hammer and chisel like they did a hundred years ago. I have pipe wrenches older than I am, including genuine Stillsons. I know how to operate a gasoline blowtorch. I've cut plenty of pipe threads by hand, although I prefer a power threader. Sometimes I think I should have been a blacksmith.

Oh, yeah, I use bar soap, too.

when I replace sections of cast pipe in my home, I am amazed at hoe they used to do things, like the lead joints, the labor involved. but it lasted pretty long (though I think the PVC will last A LOT longer...)
I have soldered copper supply lines, but a sharkbite fitting makes it go SO much easier!

I had to put my vinyl record player in storage because the kids were messing with it. Plan to go back. Still have working VCRs, cassette tapes, a landline phone, timing light. My electric razor is ten years old and does okay. I've had a hard time finding a decent netbook, everything is moving to touch screens. I want a keyboard I can bang on with tactile keys, darn it!

OTOH I work at a TV station and some kid from Production asked me if we could air an old standard-def commercial. "I'll find a way" I grumbled.

Do you have a necker-knob on it?

Still use Brut and Old Spice, have crank windows in my Chevy single cab, still wear a wristwatch. I am in my late forties.

But the real "old school" habits I have is I look people in the eye, have a firm handshake, and MY WORD is better than ANY written contract!

Eye contact has died with most of the younger generation. What are "their" kids going to be like?? That's what I think about...

^^^Exactly!

Just recently had a client leave her '20-something' son in charge of her job with us. I don't think he EVER made eye contact the whole time I was there.

These kids will run our country one day, makes me glad I am unlikely to see the results...
