We have a 56' Zenith S-52224 radio my grandfather had. It sounds so good compared to today's radios.

Yes, I'm old school. I pop popcorn manually, without a microwave.

I wear overalls, fix everything myself that's possible, garden, can vegetables/meats/sauces, the motorcycles have carbs, I smoke meats, I don't REQUIRE air conditioning to live, I use bar soap, I grow a beard, I drink Schlitz and PBR, and I have never twittered, tweeted, or facebooked.

I have even been known to turn off the tv and open a paper book.

Nice! A fellow aficionado of old time radios. Here's a Youtube clip of my 1936 Zenith console playing an episode of "The Shadow".

I have several pieces of glow-in-the-dark technology. My Magnavox console stereo from the 1960s can still play my LP version of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, I use my Hallicrafters S-40B receiver for ham radio reception, and my favorite guitar amp is my 1975 Fender Vibro Champ.

I too use bar soap and a safety razor, drive a Buick w/ cassette AND CD players and with no GPS (there are these things called MAPS), and I wear a fedora in cooler weather. My TV is a big CRT-type from 1996 and my stereo receiver is from 1991. I cook with an electric range, no microwave. My phone is home-only with an answering machine; I haven't seen the need for a cell yet. My everyday watches are automatics from the '70s and one Bulova from the '60s.

And I pay cash for everyday purchases when I can.

wow, a 56 FOOT radio??? is that the size of the cabinet or the antenna?

I like older traditional stuff, but I won't fault someone for using new stuff either. for lots of people, a cell phone makes more sense than a home phone, a tablet or smartphone can replace a bulky land-locked PC for many people, and even record players aren't all that practical for everyone (though they sound better when playing 'real' music).
I'm mixed; I like using cast iron cookware on a gas stove, and I'd rather use a knife than a food processor. I make my own pizza dough and bread, but I use a Kitchenaid mixer to knead the dough. and I use a cell phone, but not a smart one

I still have a turntable set up with Advent speakers and a powerful amp, and of course a CD player too. I like blue steel and walnut carried in genuine leather when it comes to firearms and bought a 1903 Waltham 19 jewel railroad approved pocket watch a couple of weeks ago. Looking at the engine turned movement and the little gears and flywheels moving is fascinating. Does it keep as good of time as a quartz watch ? Nope. Is it much cooler ? You bet.

wow , from the responses here we have a nice amount of old school members on our board. nice to see that technology has not made everybody change from being old school. some things never go out of style !
