Who has a car that does not use oil?

My 13 F150 with the 5.0 doesn't use any measurable amount of oil between changes, though it only has 38k miles on it so I would hope it wouldn't. My Mustang with it's 200 straight six does use about a quart every three thousand miles.

    The smoothest most quiet engines

The BMW 3.0 I6 is certainly the smoothest engine that I've driven. I haven't found anything else smoother/quieter yet even in other I6's. It doesn't hurt that it also has great get up and go

    Quaker State Defy 5W20, 6,790 miles, 04 F-150

Hi all, here's the latest Blackstone report for my 2004 F-150. The oil had 6,790 miles and 2 months 10 days on it. I changed out the old oil and filter with the same combo, more QS Defy and a K&N oil filter left over from the Pennzoil special's a while back. I also changed out the air filter at...

    Need a new weedwacker!

Stihl FS 55 is a great trimmer. I've been running one for a couple years and it has done an outstanding job. Although, if you want to run attachments such as a blade for cutting down saplings you need to step up to at least an FS 90. As for oil, Stihl Ultra is excellent and doubles your...

    97 Corolla Valvetrain Pics

Nick1994, glad to hear the belt wasn't to difficult to change out. My dad found a timing belt kit that comes with the tensioner and idler pulley, and we figured on doing the water pump since everything will already be apart.

JG1, thanks for the tip about the exhaust manifold. I think it's holding up alright as I haven't heard any exhaust leaks, nor noticed any visual cracks in it. PandaBear, that's good to know the Dorman manifold replacement's are affordable, and hopefully leaving the heat shield off prevents any...

    97 Corolla Valvetrain Pics

Drew99GT, thanks for quick response! Hopefully the consumption on this engine will finally slow to a more reasonable amount like your car. TinmanSC, sorry the mileage got hid between the pictures. It's got somewhere around 172-173k miles. Satinsilver, my dad has run various oils (all 5W-30) in...

    97 Corolla Valvetrain Pics

Drew99GT, thanks for that information, it's a relief to know as I wasn't sure whether this engine is interference or not. If you don't mind me asking how much oil is your car consuming? I think this engine has been using around 1qt per 1000 miles.

    97 Corolla Valvetrain Pics

Simple_gifts, glad to post 'em. I enjoy the pictures that everyone else puts on BITOG, so it was nice to finally have some of my own worth sharing. Your right about the belt, it doesn't look like it'll go a whole lot further that's for sure! Joe-Power and Donald, I agree that the timing belt...

    97 Corolla Valvetrain Pics

Hi all, here's some pictures I snapped yesterday as my dad and I changed the valve cover gasket on my step-sister's 1997 Toyota Corolla 1.6L engine. It's been leaking and burning oil since she bought it so we changed the VC gasket and PCV valve to help slow it down a bit. It's heavily varnished...

question for the ford gurus on keyless enty keypad

As far as I know dealers don't charge to pull the keypad code, at least my local Ford dealer doesn't. After I got my truck I just stopped by and asked if they could pull the code and the service manager immediately came out, plugged in his computer and wrote the code down for me. Asked how much...

    New Riding Lawn Mowers

Kawasaki is by far the best IMO. I have a FB460V in a 1986 John Deere 165 and it still runs great, doesn't smoke, and rarely needs topped off over the course of a 6-7 month mowing season mowing a little over an acre. It's also one of the quietest small engines I've ever used. My dad also has a...

2015 F-150 at Detroit Auto Show

Ford had the concept F-150 Atlas at Farm Progress last fall, so I was compelled to look it over and they definitely do look like a goofy life size Tonka truck. I really don't think 1/2 tons need to get any bigger than they are right now. However, it would be pretty sweet if Ford decided to...
