after my success with mom's car, I tried the same on the sable. nothing. tried all the other locations folks have mentioned, nothing.
made an appointment with the ford dealer, for the code, and a sync update, they also had a coupon for a free multi-point inspection, so what the heck, did that too.

they gave me the A code, it doesn't do anything. at all.

GRRR....
have to call them tomorrow. after work, and after going to the license bureau for plates. (finally got my CORRECT memorandum title today. the first one showed 699,xxx mi, vs the actual 69,xxx. what a typo.)

Not true. It's written on a sticker that's located on the smart junction box. It's underneath the dash on the driver's side.

As far as I know dealers don't charge to pull the keypad code, at least my local Ford dealer doesn't. After I got my truck I just stopped by and asked if they could pull the code and the service manager immediately came out, plugged in his computer and wrote the code down for me. Asked how much I owed and he said "No charge"

the trunk button is worn through, and the lock/unlock fairly worn off, anyone have a good source for replacement pads? don't want the whole thing, just the rubber button pad.

I know you want the pads only but there are entire keys on eBay for $10 where you just transfer the internals so reprogramming is not needed.

And you can also UPGRADE to a flip key design.

Quicker and better to just change the key. Plus more hygienic!

did that.got the new shell, swapped the internals, remote wouldn't work. the next day, got the key end cut, replaced the battery, remote still doesn't work. key will start the car, not sure what i could have screwed up, have to work a little acetone magic and dissolve the superglue you have to use to keep the front part on, the "key"(IKT in ford lingo - Integrated Key Transmitter) comes in 3 parts, front shell, back shell, and the central chassis with the key blade. you put the circuit board on the chassis, then lay the pads over it then the front shell lays over that. if you don't use superglue, the front shell won't stay on.

just back from the ford dealer...again... as far as the code goes, it was a transcription error they wrote down a 7 where it was a 1.

as for the key... still don't know what i did, but the circuit board is non responsive. had to pony up for a new key. $184 out the door.
