Son's 5500 Dodge needed new rear end bearings

Ok, well Dodge trucks use the same American Axle products that are used on GM trucks so Chrysler has nothing to do with the axle not being reliable...they do recommend a shorter OCI for them than GM does however....I change mine at about 30K using Severe Gear 75w110...I tow heavy all the time...

Question about oil ratings...'03 Passat V6

Rotella 5w40 synth or M1 0w40....both are more than fine to use...The engine will outlast the rest of the car using those two oils.

    MG Midget trans oil

I use Redline MT-90 in my Austin Healey box...GL-4 and works perfectly. Tried the Castorl 20w50 and other dual rated lubes and they were horrible...notchy and almost impossible to hit a gear without grinding...switch to RL MT-90...end of problems.

    GL-4 race car transaxle

I am racing a Porsche 944 which specs a GL 4 lube. Currently i am using Redline MT90 and it has been OK as far as i can tell. Car has a limited slip and factory transmission lube cooler. I have been concerned that the MT90 is relatively thin...Would I be better off with another GL 4 lube like...

    Redline Oil 5w30 -- 3,040 miles -- 07 Civic Si

You are a menace. I hope I never end up on the same highway as you. I race cars on racetracks where they are supposed to be raced. Street racing is for idiots.

    Seafoam effect on UOA

I recently ran 8 ounces of Seafoam through the intake of a Porsche race car and let it soak for 5 minutes...Fired up the engine with the typical smokey result and the car idled and revved much smoother. I sent in a UOA with approx 10 hours on the oil and it came back high in lead and...

    Adding Mos2 to Redline Oil

You don't need a 20w50 in the 944...I race a 944 and oil temps rarely exceed 220 degrees...I do have an external Setrab cooler but keep in mind that the engine is running at 5000-6000 RPMS for sometimes hours on end if we do an enduro. I doubt a street driven 944 would see 220. We run Redline...

    MMO on Porsche 911?

This is normal and I wouldn't worry about it...Black oil means it is doing the job it is supposed to do...BTW, the 997 3.8 is not a dry sump unless it is the motor in a Porsche GT3 997...the standard Carrera uses a different engine block that they call an "integrated dry sump"...it's really just...

Do Porsche Consumer Oil Like Subaru?

No not necessarily. My 911's use very little to no oil between OCI's.

sw99, have you owned a newer Dodge truck? They are very well built. I've seen no problems with either of mine and they get worked hard...and maintained properly!

    Redline racing oil OCI?

How many hours would you run it? I have used RL 10w40 in my race engines for years but am thinking of switching to RL Race 30wt. for my 944...I can go 15 hours easily on the 10w40...Would I cut that in half given the low detergent levels in the Race oils?

Low VI oils for 9X6/9X7 water cooled Porsche

I'd tend to stick with Porsche recommended oils for the 996/997 but I have used Redline 10w40 and Rotella 15w40 for years in my race cars, both 944 and 911's...I would imagine that Redline 5 or 10w40 would give great service. I know many that use M1 Delvac or Turbo Diesel 5w40 with great results...
