Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 3.5k mi; Honda Civic 1.5l 56k mi

I’d either run a 0w30/5w30 or a more stout 0w20 to combat the fuel dilution. Or, if you can get him to take a 30-45 minute trip on an interstate going 70 mph, once a week, that would probably reduce dilution. It looks like it thinned down to between a 0w20 and 0w16. cSt on 0w20 PP is 8.6...

Super Tech Full Synthetic European 0w-40 VOA

Calcium is wayyyyy too high to prevent LSPI. I remember reading a post from Dave at HPL. I think the synopsis was once you get above 1400-1500ppm Calcium, there’s no way to reduce LSPI with other additives like Moly. Even some oils like Valvoline Advanced and Extended Protection have really high...

    Purolator Tech TL20195 C&P

These tech filters honestly look better to me than the PL and Boss line in many ways. No louvers is a big plus for me, given that M+H can't punch the dang things out far enough half the time. The L line looks good too. Give me this filter, but with better media and a silicone ADBV, I would buy many.

    2016 Porsche GT3 RS / Mobil 1 SuperCar 5w50 784 miles

Thanks for the insight! I've always been curious about it. I wish you the best of luck on the track and with your ownership.

    2016 Porsche GT3 RS / Mobil 1 SuperCar 5w50 784 miles

What a beauty! I'll tag this post in ~20 years when I pull the trigger on one. How has ownership been? I know quite a few people with Porsches, and they all have had lower cost of ownership in terms of repairs compared to Audi and Mercedes, not quite comparable for this car I suppose.

I hope to one day post one of these. Any pictures of the beauty? Thanks!

    I'm new to BITOG

Welcome! I hope you are able to find some good info and learn a few things through the coming years. Most of us very nice, but a handful are passive aggressive and others just care about proving you wrong. Don't let them get under your skin and you'll be just fine.

    3.0 Mercruiser filter drains back

Some of the Frams are having an issue with a leaky ADBV. You could try replacing it with something like a CarQuest Premium 85042 or Microgard Select 51042 and see if it remains an issue. If so, I would love to see a C&P of the Fram and how wavy the leaf spring is.

    My MPG on 0w20

There’s an app called Fuelly that does all the calculations for you, then uploads to a huge database of other users.

Long drain filter with excellent build quality

O yeah, it's such a good system! I got nearly 80 mpg across a two hour trip through a stretch of highway that goes from 45-60 mph throughout. I coasted for multiple miles just slowing down without using brakes, just regenning. Picture below is the second half of the journey after a bathroom...

Long drain filter with excellent build quality

70% Highway! That's perfect for a 10k OCI. Any and all fuel an water gets boiled off. You'll be just fine for 10k OCI, highway is so easy on oil in comparison to city driving. The hybrid system makes it so it isn't even a 10k OCI. My engine turns off often going 55-75 mph, a football field goes...

Long drain filter with excellent build quality

I bought the car with 60k miles, now at almost 125k miles. I did a total of three 10k miles OCIs, the rest being 7-7.5k. The 10k OCIs were Pennzoil Platinum 0w16, Valvoline Advanced 0w16, and TGMO 0w16. I know a lot of people with 150-200k miles on their hybrid Toyota's with 10k OCIs at the...

Long drain filter with excellent build quality

Honestly, these A25A-FKS engines are so easy on oil, even with the potential fuel dilution and whatnot from being a hybrid, you could go with just about any filter with a silicone ADBV and be fine. I've done 10k miles on my '19 Camry Hybrid with the same engine, and the oil looked cleaner than...

    Video - Purolator L14476

Here's an interesting video of a L14476 from Purolator taken apart. I enjoy Crazy Bill's commentary. Looks to be better made, at a lower price, than the PL lines that have been posted in the last two years. It even has a metal crimp, which I like to see, unlike the PL line C&Ps I've linked...

Probably, but I hope not. I was one and done with Kohler after it 😅

    Why so lean? Kohler

I want to say it was the 7000 series, but I could be wrong.

    Why so lean? Kohler

The only engine I’ve ever had fail was a single cylinder Courage. Whole block started to crack, then sent a rod through the side. The thing was babied too with early oil changes, filters, and everything else.

Long drain filter with excellent build quality

Premium Guard EX or any of the oil filters that PGI makes with silicone ADBV. Some would CarQuest Premium and some STP XLs. Frams are having leaky leaf springs and the Purolators just aren’t looking the part anymore with M+Hs current production QC and QA.

Post your latest small engine oil change

Not the guy that you replied, but the tech filter would be TL10241. I’ve ran the PL10241, which is just a higher end version of Purolator, in my 20HP Briggs V-Twin. They all cross back to Wix 51348. There’s also a bigger Purolator that’s about double the height that fits, that part number is...

    API SQ Coming Soon...

Looking at API SQ licenses, it looks like VRP is pretty much the only passenger car oil from Valvoline that doesn't currently have SQ approval.
