Thanks to all who have replied. I probably will not get to go over to where it is at and look at it until Saturday. The more I look at the PIC the more it looks like the axel to me also. I thought I looked at it closely the other day but obviously not close enough.

It is probably OK but I would replace it. Make sure if you do to flush all the old out. I use Peak Conventional Green in my older Chevy and Dodge. I get it at AAP. I think O'Reilly's has a house brand conventional green. The G05 suggestion would be a good choice if you want a longer life fluid.

Exactly what I have done. I think if dexcool is your FF then doing a flush and fill with a dexclone is no issue.

Another vote for the belt. Unless it is a hard belt to get to I would take it off, start the car, see if noise went away.

+1 one on preferring the Goodyear Gatorback but I have used Gates and Dayco also based on price and availability and they have all worked well. I believe Napa belts are Gates. I know Goodyear and Dayco both have two lines of belts (Gates may have but not sure) so make sure to get the upper line...
