I have a Fram TG3614 that I bought earlier this year that I could C&P if anyone would be interested in that model. I intended to use it next spring for my riders oil change but I picked up a bunch of Carquest Premium’s on sale so it’s not explicitly needed.
I have a Kohler Command 16hp that gets a Fram TG3614. All my other equipment is splash lubed, so no filter.
Summer OPE gets Rotella T5 15w-40. Once I’m out of that, will be switching to Supertech FS 15w-40.
Winter OPE gets Rotella T6 5w-40.
I had good luck with Castrol GTX HM 10w-40 (green jug, synth-blend) resolving the weepy RMS on my 98.
I had tried other brands full synthetic HM oils and they didn’t seem to help any interestingly.
Heh, I remember the uproar that came from the Gen3 LS engines piston slap issues. It was a very hot topic on forums at the time, people were pissed.
GM did release at least two TSB's about it (01-06-01-022 & 01-06-01-028A) which in summation stated "its fine, no problem. Run quality 5w-30 and...
Are you experienced with fabrication and welding? That kit is for any SBC and would require both to make it work. It is not a simple bolt on kit.
As mentioned, lower gears would be a far more practical choice over a janky Fleabay kit. You have a almost 30 year old half ton, keep your power and...
The original comment was regarding the 7/8" diameter of the HF engine in a re-power scenario. My point is there are adapters that fit that diameter just fine.
Shaft length and blade height are left to the installer to make work for their particular machine. If you read the user reviews on those...
Did they ever make a bigger vertical than the one and only 173cc?
It’s 5.5 hp which is great for a walk behind but yeah, nowhere near enough for a rider.
Can you feel any groove or abrasion with your nail across those wear lines or is it smooth to the touch?
If it’s smooth, I would just lightly polish it and the journal surface and seal it back up. The fact that it wasn’t leaking through there is a good sign so no need to fix what wasn’t broken...
Anything GMT400 related, more so if you can find one with little to no rust.
Parts are plentiful and relatively cheap, mechanical and electronic systems are simple enough and any/all issues have been identified over the years.
The belt thing is interesting. As long as they are all the right PN for the application, the tensioner should keep the same amount of constant tension on them. You say the Gates is stock size, are you saying the Goodyear and Continental aren't stock lengths?
