    2010 Fusion oil consumption increasing

FWIW- I would go with a nice 10-30--since you are into SuperTech--why not try that? I also agree 1qt in 3K miles is nothing to be overly concerned with. In my experience, engines of the 60's & 70's burning a quart in 2K miles was normal--if it only burned a quart in 3 K miles, you had a real...

    Question about the miscible oils

You can estimate the properties of the final mixture, but without extensive lab testing, there is no way to know for sure what you end up with. If you have to mix occasionally, or it's a one or two time occurrence, go ahead it won't hurt. I would just not be doing it on a regular basis Steve

Can I use 0-30 in place of 5-20

Go ahead and use it--there will be NO oil related problems.I'm not an M-1 fanboy, but picked up the same oil at AZ on their end-of-year clearance. I'll use it in someone else's car. FWIW the the M-1 0-30 follows the almost the exact same viscosity curve as M-1 5-30, in fact, it is even a little...

    PCV valve average lifespan

2005 Honda Accord K24 (4 cyl) 12 years & 249 K miles-looked at the PCV valve once a while back, and it rattled freely inside when shook, so I just put it back in--didn't need to be cleaned. Idle is smooth as silk. I would venture to say when I get rid of any car, it has the original PCV valve in...

    Pennzoil Euro 5W-40 vs 0W-40

If it is 502/505 approved I'd choose the 0-40, only for the potential of possible having more PAO content Steve

    Hillbilly Oil Change

An annual oil & filter change @ 5K is more than a lot of vehicles get. I would drop the Lucas & switch to Newports Steve

Chevy Blazer 234K...what oil to run?

I have the same engine + 2 cylinders (350 cu in) in my 95 Corvette-a 40 weight OR QS Green Bottle really quiets down the known valvetrain noise (which is why they used plastic valve covers). If not noisy, I would stick to any 10-30. Steve

Oil for High Mileage GMC Yukon XL with 6.2

The TSB is a great find by LeakySeals-- Besides the atrocious grammar in the TSB, found an interesting note, below: Note: After the piston/ring replacement, it will take 2000 to 3000 miles for the new rings to seat. Adequate break time is necessary prior to rechecking the oil consumption level...

    Downside of using 0W-40 v.s 5W-30?

if scooter is air cooled I would use the 0-40 grade. Liquid cooled 10-30 would be fine. Steve

    NEW MAZDA. Break in oil?

SWEET RIDE--happy you posted the pic. If it were mine, I'd do what Quint says above^^^^ one early change at 1500 then 5K mile OCI Good Luck with it Steve

The "V" in Valvoline. What does it mean?

looking at the pic of the old Valvoline quart most likely from 70's or 80's reminds me of the oil grade description on the top of the can: if memory serves correct it said 10W-20W-30-40, and was the only brand described this way-----anyone know why they included the extra 20W-30, instead of just...

    Switching from Synthetic to Dino

^^^ agree with above---except---most new cars come FF with either syn,syn blend, or a grade like 0-20, which can only be had in syn/blend --> so most new car OLMs are set for syn or syn blend Steve

    Engine shots - 07 Accord @ 100k miles

Nice job-I have the same engine in an 05 Accord. The pic shows my concern with Honda cams--compare this pic (and my engine also BTW) with a pic of a Toyota cam: one looks new and one doesn't, which is why I went over to 5 or 10-30 after 101K Keep up the good work Steve
