Question about racing oils vs street oils.

Racing oils definitely not geared towards long OCI, for one they usually have much lower TBN. I used VR1 for a good while in my classic car that doesnt get much mileage, I wanted to change it yearly or so, but Valvoline told me by email, 6 months as a MAX for their racing oils.

    BG engine purge or Auto-rx?

Are you sure it's not just the oil change light, i.e. reminder to change. Might just need a reset.

    New here because I heard!!

I tend to agree with above particularly in my situation, 800 ppm vs 1200 ppm wouldn't make a difference in 10 minutes, I've thought that all along. Having said that, I still have to run an oil in the motor, so for the warm fuzzy feeling, I'm sticking with VR-1. Metallurgy could definitely be a...

    New here because I heard!!

I think things can be overblown sometimes, HOWEVER,in this case I believe there is some merit to the ZDDP issue. When I had my 67 mustang rebuilt, I went with a few upgrades inlcuding a hotter cam. During break in several cam lobes wiped out. I'm talking about the initial break-in- 20 minute run...

How to dispose of contaminated oil?

I save it for pile burning when I clear land, works good on ant beds too.

    CEL P0174

The lean code for my 94 5.0 was 172. If you haven't changed it recently, a clogging fuel filter can cause this due to the reduced flow to injectors. A weak fuel pump or bad HEGO sensor can cause this code also.
