I picked up 30L about 2 months ago. The local CT store said they would honour the Part Source flyer that had "regular" syntec on sale for 5.75/L. They didn't seem to notice that the flyer was for 10W-30.
Sounds like my neighbours in the USA may get screwed. So far lots of GC here at our local places. Perhaps I should start an import/export business. I could ship GC and XD3...
Weird. The Rain-X deicer sold in Canada is Yellow in a squarish bottle. This is different that the pinkish fluid shown on their website. FWIW the yellow Rain-X works very well in the winter. I have sprayed it at temps as low as -25 with no issues.
My 06 V70R suggests 3 years on the brake fluid. Not a problem though as I can reach the bleeders without having to remove the wheels. A 30 minute job at most. We will see if the 2.5 in the R will be as durable as the Red block in my P1800. Somehow I doubt it
I will take an oil sample in the spring and do a UOA. BTW my mileage is 16 000 kms/year or around 10 000miles/year. We were pretty mild this winter but I am beginning to think that the 0w-30 XD3 may be a tad thick in winter for the 4.7..
Central AB. Pernhaps I will do an analysis in the spring to see how the oil held up through the winter. If it looks OK I will run it till the fall.
Who does oil analysis in Alberta?
I am currently running 0W-30 XD3 in my 4.7L Dodge Dakota. I am leaning towards a 1 year OCI since I don't mile this thing very hard (15 000km/year).
Details.
Summer: up to 30 degrees C.
Commuter: 10km one way of city traffic. 100kms/week.
45min/ 1hour highway trip to go dirtbiking once per...
I ran Rotella 15W-40 in my 04 525 EX/C. a 4L jug was $12 CAN. For $3/L I dumped the oil every 3 rides (10 hours) and cleaned both screens and changed both filters every 4th oil change. The screens/filter change interval is a personal thing. Ince the engine was broken in I never found much #@$%...
