    Redline 5w20, 2000 Camry 2.2L, 5210km

For the last 1000km of this oil run, I have been experimenting with K&N drop-in air filter. Today I removed my K&N filter and replaced with OEM type. I was shocked to find that a tiny bit of the aluminium wire mesh had broken off and was dangling precariously (on the clean air side)! And this...

Trex101, call Mr Gan 62988588, I buy them for S$50 per 18L tin. But be very careful when handling toluene, it's very toxic if inhaled. Wear latex gloves and eye protection. And you need strong spark to burn toluene otherwise you risk stalling. Leo, that's what my dyno tester told me too, he...

    Redline 5w20, 2000 Camry 2.2L, 5210km

Im quite happy with the nice low-end torque increase that toluene gives, my 20% toluene mix somehow packs more punch than premium 98ron gas alone. Maybe it's bcos C7H8 is a denser fuel and releases more energy or burns better for more powerful combustion. Im not ready to give up my toluene so...

I now have a hunch the elevated aluminium is caused by my toluene mix. Im using 20%mix to boost octane. Toluene is corrosive and the aluminum cylinder head (aluminum piston tops?) cannot take the 20% mix. The block is CI so it cant be from there. That’s why toluene cleans very well too and is a...

    Redline 5w20, 2000 Camry 2.2L, 5210km

I have a very accurate Defi oil temp gauge, oil temps never rose over 105C during this run. I have piggyback but only for timing advance. I think it's normal for some oils to thicken a little while it ages. I've seen several Redline UOAs on this site and it seems to drop to TBN 0 very quickly...

    Redline 5w20, 2000 Camry 2.2L, 5210km

This is my tenth UOA on my 200 Camry 2.2L (5S-FE) done using Schaeffers/WearCheck kit. Previous nine UOAs were by Dyson Analysis. Latest results on the right, oldest on the left. I did a Auto-Rx clean and rinse using Castrol GTX which explains the long gap (84,726km to 101,477km) and I did not...

Change those Iridium Spark Plugs !!

Depends on which Iridiums you buy. Denso IK series is only good for 10,000~15,000km. Denso SK series is good for well over 100,000km.

    Premium vs Gas charged shocks/struts

Here are some pics of my shock absorber job. It was 2 days of back breaking work. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t150790.html

My '00 camry 2.2L with 100,000km has no signs of sludge. I change oil every 5,000km. If you are worried, request to open up the valve cover for inspection.

    101K Toyota fuel filter pics

Dont forget to change the filter sock on the in-tank fuel pump also. There is a third filter for the return fuel too, also located on the fuel pump, but I think this one is not necessary to change.

Strange deposit formation on shocks. What is it? (pics)

3 hours is impressive. Took my 2 days....with lots of breaks inbetween. And of course it was back breaking work for me, my whole body is still aching all over! I think I know what you mean, the upper strut seat has to fit the grove on the piston rod, and pointed in a certain direction.

    When to change hoses?

IMO I'd say oem rubber hoses should be good for at least 6 years. Maximum you could stretch it probably 10 years.

Strange deposit formation on shocks. What is it? (pics)

I regreased the shocks piston rods, it seemed to work at first but the noises came back soon after. I decided to change all the shocks. Here's a pic of the rear right shock removed. After examining all the worn out parts: I decided to replace all 4 shocks, lower insulator rubber, bump...
