My wife's daily grocery getter. Some short trip, some highway, nothing unusual. Used the Subaru oil because she got a coupon for a cheap synthetic oil change at the stealership. Blue Subaru oil filter and OEM air filter.
On my last trip to Alaska, my guide carried a 12 gauge Mossberg 500 loaded alternately with slugs and 000 buck. Harder to carry than a handgun for sure but I would trust myself to get more hits on target with a shotgun and it's got a heck of a lot more stopping power than any handgun.
The best...
I've been using conventional 80W-90 GL-5 gear oil in my Tundra for both differentials and the transfer case. At over 250,000 miles, everything is still working smoothly.
I do not care about TBN or TAN. I don't plan on extending the OCI any longer so if there was a little oxidative thickening at the end of the OCI then I'd say the interval is about right. I was mainly looking for evidence of coolant or silica contamination. Any abnormally large numbers in wear...
On this oil change interval, my wife and I took a vacation to Big Bend NP and Guadalupe Mountains NP. We towed a 5000 lb trailer through the West Texas mountains in some of the most brutal heat possible. We also did some really cool 4 wheeling at Big Bend. Looks like the oil did just fine.
This oil was used over the summer and fall in the heat in South and West Texas. Fairly heavy towing most weeks as well. Looks to me like the oil did great. Glad to know my engine is doing well also. Using an OEM oil and air filter.
I'll bet it would work great. I had a 70 Beetle back in high school and I used a 40 weight mono grade. It ran well but I had to rebuild the top end a couple of times.
Since you need to change the oil so frequently on those due to the lack of oil filter, I would buy all I could afford while it's...

I have an 06 Tacoma as well. Toyota says that the ATF should be changed out at 60,000 miles if towing. If not, the fluid is supposed to be good for the life of the transmission. Your transmission calls for Toyota WS ATF. You can get it at your dealer. If you use another fluid, make sure it says...
