2020 Subaru Outback 2.4L XT, 0W-20 Subaru Synthetic, 6023 miles

Air filter was changed about a year ago. The high silicon could be from a dust storm that we drove through in West Texas a few months ago.

2020 Subaru Outback 2.4L XT, 0W-20 Subaru Synthetic, 6023 miles

My wife's daily grocery getter. Some short trip, some highway, nothing unusual. Used the Subaru oil because she got a coupon for a cheap synthetic oil change at the stealership. Blue Subaru oil filter and OEM air filter.

If 10mm is ok for bears, why not 357 mag?

On my last trip to Alaska, my guide carried a 12 gauge Mossberg 500 loaded alternately with slugs and 000 buck. Harder to carry than a handgun for sure but I would trust myself to get more hits on target with a shotgun and it's got a heck of a lot more stopping power than any handgun. The best...

Toyota Transfer Gear Oil 75W VOA

I've been using conventional 80W-90 GL-5 gear oil in my Tundra for both differentials and the transfer case. At over 250,000 miles, everything is still working smoothly.

08 Tundra 5.7 Supertech High Mileage Full Syn 10W-30 5882 miles

I do not care about TBN or TAN. I don't plan on extending the OCI any longer so if there was a little oxidative thickening at the end of the OCI then I'd say the interval is about right. I was mainly looking for evidence of coolant or silica contamination. Any abnormally large numbers in wear...

08 Tundra 5.7 Supertech High Mileage Full Syn 10W-30 5882 miles

On this oil change interval, my wife and I took a vacation to Big Bend NP and Guadalupe Mountains NP. We towed a 5000 lb trailer through the West Texas mountains in some of the most brutal heat possible. We also did some really cool 4 wheeling at Big Bend. Looks like the oil did just fine.

This oil was used over the summer and fall in the heat in South and West Texas. Fairly heavy towing most weeks as well. Looks to me like the oil did great. Glad to know my engine is doing well also. Using an OEM oil and air filter.

Use of Delvac 1300 15w-40 in aircooled VW

I'll bet it would work great. I had a 70 Beetle back in high school and I used a 40 weight mono grade. It ran well but I had to rebuild the top end a couple of times. Since you need to change the oil so frequently on those due to the lack of oil filter, I would buy all I could afford while it's...

    Tacoma oil change

I have an 06 Tacoma as well. Toyota says that the ATF should be changed out at 60,000 miles if towing. If not, the fluid is supposed to be good for the life of the transmission. Your transmission calls for Toyota WS ATF. You can get it at your dealer. If you use another fluid, make sure it says...

Which of these filters should I buy.

This is a pretty good teardown comparison between OEM Toyota filters and most other available brands with pics and video. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/toyota-oil-filter-made-in-thailand-vs-the-competition.123608/

    SuperTech Synthetic 5-30w, 10k, Toyota FJ 4.0L

That was interesting. Thanks for posting. I have the same 1GR-FE engine as you and was wondering how SuperTech Synthetic would do. I also use 10,000 mile OCI because it's easy to just reset the oil change light once at 5000 and change it the next time around. Looks like you got every bit of use...

First oil change on a new Tacoma

My 06 Tacoma has the same engine as yours. It now has just over 200,000 miles and dosen't burn a drop of oil (I know, it irritates one or two on here to hear that. I'm sure you will get over it.) I drove it pretty hard in the first few miles and didn't change it till 5000 miles. Everything...
