do you really need an oil filter

Why would someone want to risk an engine change for thousands of dollars when you could buy some insurance for $3(oil filter) every 3-4 thousand miles?

    STP

I have used the STP filters from back in the Richard Petty days, and I have never had a problem with their product. In my opinion STP makes a good product at a good price.
