I went to autozone to buy some mobil 1 oil for my Mazda Miata. They had a special 5 quarts of mobil 1 and mobil 1 filter for 24.95. I selected the M-104 which is what my Honda Accord uses and I have used for my Miata 2001 model. It is oversized for the miata but the Pureone in this size has worked for some 7 years. The first time I started the car after it sat in the garage for about a week was the worse noise ever to come from the car. I guess the garage maginified the noise but it lasted 15 seconds or more. I am guessing it took 15 seconds for oil to get to the engine and it was not happy to say the least. My guess is the antidrain valve did not function so the filter was empty and took 15 seconds before any oil pressure arrived.
I had a stock Mazda filter so it was replaced immediately.
Autozone has agree to replace the filter. Not sure I will use it on the Miata but I guess it should work fine on the Honda as it is spec for the Honda. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem with Mobil 1 filters.

I have never had a problem with mobil 1 filters. The vehicle must have some kind of characteristic that causes the abnormality.

I have used the M1-104 on my Honda V-65 cycle. No problems with the filter. I have also used the M1-110 on my Altima never had a problem.

15 seconds??? i think that's stretching the truth it a little..i start my cars with an empty filter and don't get a tick that long matter of fact no tick at all,,oil pressures always shoot right up right away, never had a problem with a M1 in all the years of using one..try another if you think there's a problem but i don't think so..

It probably has something to do with both the vehicle design and the filter design. There are PLENTY of JK Wrangler owners that have confirmed that the dry start problem exists with the mobil-1 filters.

I have used mobil-1 filters many times on my Jeep Liberty with no problems. So it seems like it only affects certain vehicles probably based on the filter location and orientation.
