Amazing run on this Honda. I have a 1993 S10 with 2.8L that has 207k on it. Original motor, clutch, tranny. Just maintenance items that have been replaced. 1993 was a good year for cars.
My 2017 Malibu has this feature. I have an automatic transmission. So I just drive in L6 and it never turns off. I noticed that it was killing the engine when it had not fully warmed up after starting. I'm not a fan of the "feature".
"lifetime" fluid is basically fluid for the lifetime of the part. If only keep a car to 100k and get rid of it. You might be okay. If you like to keep them 200-300k or longer. You need new fluid for sure. I'm surprised they wouldn't take your money. I plan on doing a flush at 40k on my Malibu. I...
Goodyear tire locations around Oklahoma City use Kendall or at least carry it. Firestone used to use them as well. My father in law ran nothing but P66 Trop Artic which is now "Shield" in his 2005 Silverado Z74. Has 190k on the motor and doesn't burn or leak any oil. If you go to a Sams Club...
That is somewhat concerning regarding ZDDP. One of the things that GTX High Mileage claims is some type of patent that cleans the Catalytic Converter instead of damaging them. I wonder if Castrol doesn't use ZDDP in GTX HM. I plan on keeping the Hyundai Santa Fe for a while. Just did a lot of...
I switched over to a HM oil on my 2008 Santa Fe with no consumption or leak issues. In order to help prevent the seals from getting to that point. It's low mileage for a 10-11 year old 2.7L Hyundai engine. I've ran 5w20 Castrol Edge most of it's life. I went over to GTX HM & soon will be going...
On my 1.5L Turbo ecotec in my malibu. The dealer & chevy recommends 5k changes with Dexos 1 Gen2 oil. I plan on letting them do everything until the warranty is up. My oil normally has 25-35% oil life remaining at 5k. But I take it in anyways. I don't want to deal with warranty denials if the...
Hyundai & KIA can get rather nasty on their warranties from what I've heard & read online. I went through [censored] with a lemon Accent. They call for a timing belt change every 60k on my 2008 Santa Fe & transmission flush every 30k. Belt is a typical gates after market that could go 120k...
I noticed in Walmart that it appears the bottles of Maxlife have changed. It appears Valvoline is labeling it was Valvoline High Mileage with Maxlife Technology. Anyone know if the formulation has changed with the revamped naming convention? I bought a quart to top off the S10.
I believe only 1.5 & 2.0 turbo engines need to worry. The old spec had too much calcium which was causing LSPI. They changed up the formula cutting calcium in half & upping the magnesium. Along with an ECU update. There were some 1.5L engines during the first year of release that were failing...
I drove the s10 to work and back. Along with leaving work for lunch. Total around 70-75 miles today. No drips at work all day or so far after getting home. Along with the no drips I have noticed when at idle/coming to stop. My oil pressure is also higher resulting in smoother idle. With GTX HM...
I put in 10w30 Pennzoil High Mileage with a Fram High Mileage filter. I drove 300 miles yesterday after change & parked over night in driveway. No drips at all. Checked oil & it's still full. I drove it 40 miles this morning and back to house. Left in drive way and no oil leaking still. Hope...
This past weekend I put in some Pennzoil HM 10w30 with Fram Ultraguard. Will report back on results compared to GTX HM. Hoping for a change for the better. I feel better about the add pack in the Pennzoil. If after a couple OCI no benefits I may switch over to Mobil1 HM like others suggested as...
GM deemed it unncessary to put an option in to disable it in my Malibu. Other than tricking it not to by driving habits or down shifting into L.
