I prefer Kroil, but generally can't find it unless I order from Kano. PB Blaster works similarily. I have no BTDT yet but will soon on a 50-50 mix of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and Acetone. I read somewhere that that required less torque to loosen stuff than Kroil and PB Blaster. The melted wax trick also works, but I'm going to explore the ATF approach where I can't use heat.

+1 on Kroil or Aero Kroil

Goto www.kanolabs.com and you'll see lots of offers, including some great bundles or 2 for 1's.

Yes I like that Kroil too. I've tried a couple other products as well. I put some info about penetrating oils here including many of the products from this thread, plus a special mix.

advice here is sound, though I have not tried the honey bee wax notion. I would bite the bullet and buy Kroil direct from Kano. Like BG products, it is excellent but tough to find. Personally, I alternate between PBlaster and Kroil while disassembling my 63 Avanti, it is not clear which is better.

I've use PB Blaster and it's better than most penetrating lubes. I'd like to give Kroil or Knock'er Loose a try, the Datsun guys have always said Kroil was good..

LC20 + ATF?

4.1 Penetrating oil. I mixed by volume, 70% LC20 and 30% synthetic Dexron III ATF to produce an optically pleasant and very effective penetrating oil. I applied this mixture to muffler and tail pipe clamps. Rust and corrosion products immediately dripped with the solution and once the nuts were removed, the threads of the bolts were like new. The remaining oil tenaciously clung to the assembly to protect it from rust.

I have a can of Knock'er Loose. It's good, but not fantastic. It did not work on rusty exhaust clamps.

Have heard several experienced mechanics over the years exhort the wonders of the OB Blaster previously mentioned.

That wax trick sounds plausible.

Heat is a well-known portion of the get-the-frikken-nut/bolt-loose equation.

Okay, it might not be the best pentrating oil, but it works well and has good lubricity and works well on fighting corrosion, try JB-80. (Justice Brothers). I have used this from anything from cars to guns to bicycles. I think it's the best jack of all trades sprays.

I some times use a product from kimball midwest called, Torq"CB" Corrosion Blasting Penetrating Oil. Some other good ones that I tried are: PB Blaster, Jb 80,

Just tried wax. Worked great! Had a Troybilt rototiller with both wheels rust welded on due to being out in the rain. These are the type that have a removable pin and two positions for the wheel.
It gets my vote.

I've used WD-40, Liquid Wrench, and PB Blaster. SiliKroil excelled where the others failed. It costs more, but it does perform.
