Crash testing on small SUV's, incredible. In fact I'd like to see a new category added to BITOG, "Automotive Safety".

A lady here at work was involved in a head on collision while driving her 2017 Mazda CX-3. The other vehicle was a late model Cadillac Escalade, maybe 10 years old. The Cadillac driver ran a red light and hit the Mazda head on. The lady in the CX-3 was unhurt, was checked out in the ER and released. My wife and I picked her up and drove her home. The Cadillac driver went to the ER in an ambulance. We checked on the Cadillac driver in the ER and she was not out of surgery, yet but we were told her injuries were not life threatening and she was expected to have a complete recovery. It also appears that she will be charged with a DUI.

I think it's fair to say this little SUV saved our friend's life.

Glad she is ok...I bet she gets another one!

I have been looking at a CX-5...Mazda is a little of a dark horse but make very good vehicles.

No seat belt use for the Dummy under influence?
If you can see if you can get some pictures. Your lady friend may have or might get them from insurance.

My wife, the lady and myself did a research project to help her pick a new car. We looked, read and listened. And you can bet that she's very happy that the CX-3 did it's job in the accident. She has a rental now but is going to get another CX-3.

One interesting thing. She was not aware the airbags went off until she got out of the car. Of all the crazy things, the driver's door opened with nothing more than a firm push. The left front wheel and suspension was clear across the street, all by itself. The car was destroyed but the area around the seats was completely intact and not squished.

Hello, Administrators. What do you think of a category with the title, "Automotive Safety".

Same with texting and driving.

What needs to happen is offenders get not just a $100 fine and a demerit point or two.
A several-thousand dollar fine and license suspension, plus having your name in an "offenders" database so the consequences are worsened. 3 times, you loose your license for good and your car is taken away, maybe even crushed.

The do-gooders would get all bent out of shape about it, but its the ONLY way to stop people being so negligent.

If it weren't for the rear seats, we would be sold on the cx-3. We like the size and layout.

I had a 2015 cx-5. I liked it. I only got rid of it to get a 2016 mazda 6 with a manual transmssion. I'd suggest a 2016 or newer. The '14-'15 have a [censored] infotainment.

one of the things the guys on the mercedes forum brag about is the german steel the older ones are made of. Sure theyre great but modern cars are really safe. I'd rather be in a new car for a safety standpoint. I do like my older mercedes though. and it is tough..
