My bad, I didn't catch the word "inferior" in the original post.


Easiest analogy I can think of is soda and shampoo. Years back,soda contained pure cane sugar,and shampoo contained naturally derived soap barks and natural oils. Same soda today uses high fructose corn syrup and shampoo contains sls and silicones (all of these ingredients being cheaper and inferior BUT "gets the job done" per se),while charging more. Products can contain inferior ingredients,but still "can get the job done".
