Hi I would like to know what kind of oil should I use in a 1999 e300 turbo diesel benz. I just bought the car with a 136 thousand on the clock the person that had if before me was the original owner he took very good care of the car.i want to do my own work on the car. Thanks

Do you know what kind of oil was used by the previous owner? Either by maintenance records or word of mouth. Look at owners manual and the oil cap as well.

Once you post pictures you'll get a lot more responses from people.
I would use Mobil 1 0w40 myself.
But i don't think it is a fussy engine.
A quick look on the Mobil site shows you can use anything from 0w30 to 15w50 and pretty much everything in between.
Not sure what the Mercedes oil specs would be though i would just make sure it was A3/B3, A3/B4.
Congrats on the purchase.
If you can avoid the rust that affected a lot of these in Europe then this diesel engine is last of the live for ever Merc engines.
