Of the two cartridge oil filters, K&N PS-7002 and Mann HU-819X, which do you pick for 2006 Volvo V70. The price of either filter is about $7.xx on Amazon.

A quick check on the Internet shows the genuine Volvo filter 1275810 is pleated, flat apparently cardboard end caps and made in Austria.

Out of the two, the Mann seems closest in design.

But I would go with OEM. Lowest eBay price is $9 including shipping and seller is open to offer.

I would go with Mann from your two choices above.

However, since I own 2 Volvos with this same cartridge set up. I've simply bought a case of 10 Mahle filters from IPD for $45.00

They include the cartridge housing o-ring. You really need to get a dedicated cartridge wrench for this, Assenmacher makes one, IPD sells their own (which works great, but is pricey).

Don't forget that you'll need a new crush washer for the drain plug.

Two excellent sources for parts include IPD (based in Seattle, they source OE parts and have developed problem-specific solutions) and FCP Euro.

Example of filter choice from FCP here: http://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/V70/Engine-Filters?page=&year=2006&m=1278&e=153

Mann is the OEM maker of the Volvo branded spin on filters. I don't know about the cartridges.

Does anyone know who makes the K&N cartridge oil filters? We know that ChampionFramRank makes the K&N spin on oil filters, and HiFlofiltro makes the K&N motorcycle oil filters.

I used the K&N cartridge PS-7010 on my VW Jetta 2.5 and it was kinda crushed when it came out. Never crushes when I use MANN. I've never used a K&N again.
