ZF Lifeguard 8 vs Lifeguard 9

This thread shares that LF 8 and 9 are interchangeable.

Since LG8 and 9 are interchangeable for the 8HP70, which would be preferred?

Or just default back to https://aftermarket.zf.com/remotemedia/lol-lubricants/lol-en/lol-te-ml-11-en.pdf that states all 8HP70s take LG8?

There's a $55 total difference for 7 qts of each from FCP Euro, not trivial but not substantial, IMO.

So is the LG9 better than LG8?

I sent a request this morning asking if ZF LG9 is compatible with my 850RE (Mopar 8&9 or ZF LG 8 is what is specified) and already received a response that yes, it is. For anyone who may be having difficulty finding ZF LG8 but can find LG9, you are good to go...

From the perspective of BMW and Land Rover they're interchangeable being that they share the same part no for LG8 and LG9. Looking at their basic properties they are identical other than a very slight difference in viscosity at 40C.

Note: There are variations of the 8HP which recommend only LG8 or only LG9. None recommend both.

Whoops - reading fail on my part.

I noticed that FCA is using 8 for both applications.
