If coolant is getting into your water pump bearing it will soon be time for a new water pump. Reminds me of the products that promote themselves as a "UCL", I still don't know what it is in the "UC" that needs lubing and isn't already being lubed. But that's another story.

What was wrong with the Product Rebates, Sales and Promotions section?

No reason to shout.

This forum (see subheading) is for discussions of ATF, MTF, Differential lubes, Brakes, Brake Fluids, and Power Steering.

The water pump has sealed bearings. Check your vehicle's maintenance manual for more details.

If you disagree with my comments, PM one of the mods to make a decision.

There you go, BOF, even better!

Ok, I was wrong, somewhat. And, I should have posted it in the Promotions forum.
But, in a way, theoretically, antifreeze/coolant DOES lubricate the pump. Also, the whole cooling system at that. Without it and just plain water, what would happen? Rust? And, how do we prevent rust? We LUBRICATE!
Or, we can can call it a protective barrier. Either or............tomato, tomoto.....

Not really, as there is nothing to lubricate in the coolant system.

What we use in the coolant is a Mult-Functional additive which is an Antioxidant, Corrosion Inhibitor, and Metal Deactivator called, Sodium 2-mercaptobenzothiazole.

It's quite amazing how, given a proper explanation, you still insist that the pump gets lubricated. But since you do you, it would be nice to hear not "...in a way, theoretically..." but exactly how the water pump bearing gets lubricated by the coolant.
Oh, and rust can be easily prevented with rust inhibitors, or cutting off the supply of oxygen. None of these methods need to involve lube.

Ok, I have now accepted the fact that you, and others here, are going to continue to bend me over and/or rake me over the coals. I was merely trying to bring the fact to those BITOG members that use G-05 coolant in their vehicles, such as me, that AAP now sells G-05 coolant. Do you now know this? Or, must I draw a picture?
I don't claim to be a "LUBRICANT PROFESSIONAL" as you do/are. I am just a back yard shade tree mechanic that has been wrenching for well over 40 years on cars and engines. If you want to get into a pi**ing contest on the reasons how/why lubricants work, knock yourself out. I will lose this battle to you every time.
But, do you now know that AAP sells G-05 coolant in full strength and a 50/50 mixture?

If you just accept that you were wrong and threw a fit when corrected that would be better.

And you were the one who started it, not "us".

Oh, and it's not a lubricant.

No reason to get into a pi**ing contest, but even mechanics can learn more about lubrication here, and posting in the proper forum gets you more exposure for your subject matter.

I too have been a gearhead for 40+ years. I won't divulge the actual number 'cause people will be kidding me about being an OF.

When misinformation does appear, I try to provide a correction so that the internet doesn't get filled with more misinformation.

Really? I did not know this. Where did you hear or read such a thing?
Seriously, I would post it but I don't think my rear end can handle any more reaming for the day.

I was merely stating where G-05 could be purchased at. And yes, I started it because I am the OP.

I read on the Internet that it will cause lubrication issues with the water pump...

Your statements also included some information that was inaccurate.

I also read the same thing. But, the version I read stated that the puhshotti valve will go into bypass if the water pump is not lubricated enough.

Yes, as usual, you're correct. And, I have learned my ways of wrong and apologize. But, do you enjoy exposing me for my faults and will continue until your need to do so is sufficed?
BTW, do you now know that AAP sells G-05 antifreeze/coolant?
