In the Holiday classic "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer ",
Yukon Cornelius keeps poking his axe in the snow and licking it...
Why?
What is he after?

I always wondered why his tongue didn't get stuck. Id assume it'd be pretty chilly up there at the North Pole.

Ol' Yukon is prospecting, looking for silver &/or gold. The shtick is, just by planting his pick in the ground or snow, he can then tell by taste if it has gold/silver or not. But so far,"Nuttin'!"

Remember, Bumbles are good helpers for Santa after their teeth are pulled.

^According to the few references I looked at, he is looking for a peppermint mine, but that part was edited out of the program. So, he's trying to taste peppermint.

Yep, they really screwed the story up when they deleted that scene.

I believe that scene and the original closing credits haven't been seen on television in 49 years!
