Youtube and FireFox?

My Firefox told me my adobe flash was old today too... use chrome or download the updates

I had go to the Adobe website and install the latest Flash version to get YouTube to play on FF.
 
Look to the right of the back arrow and click on the icon to enable the flash.

Well what happens when you try to view a Youtube video? Is it just Youtube or all external video sites?
 
I thought Youtube doesn't require flash anymore when their site is used directly.
I have no flash player or any Adobe software yet I can use Youtube through Firefox.
I can't play Youtube videos embedded in other sites, however, those do require flash.
