It's called collecting all the known possibilities about the issue and then THINKING FOR YOURSELF.

It has got to be a bit cheaper when it is all said and done.

If anything the extra marketing campaign and the MIR "free" stunt makes it MORE expensive for those that actually just want to go to the parts store and buy it with no nonsense.

I wonder if Bottom_Feeder is one of the stealth marketing people hired by Valvoline?

I have no issue at all with the product itself...heck I wish it was 100% recycled oil at a value leading price...I would be VERY interested in that version of a Nextgen product.

I still don't think a reasonable answer has been given for why it is only 50% recycled oil.

I say with the Valvoline brand name on it, containing 100% recycled quality product it would make much more sense to the consumer than this wishy washy 50% version.

Nextgen needs to be 100% recycled oil.
 
I myself wonder why Safety Kleen has ECO POWER 100% recycled motor oil and the NEXGEN isnt at least 90% recycled.
 
I have no problem with it either, only I'm not going to pay more for it when better products are available for the same price or even less in some cases.

You've been presented with logical arguments that you either choose to ignore or try to rationalize away with unprovable rebuttals. You have proven nothing. What we have here is a difference of opinion. That's what makes the free market so interesting to participate in.

They probably think that the US male population will accept it better if it is only 50% recycled oil, which is probably cleaner than crude to start with, than 90% and we might think that is "used" oil. And just think that part of that 50% used oil is synthetic in nature from earlier use. I have 2 5 quart jugs ready to go for my next oil change in the Camry.

When Valvoline has posted on the FAQ page of the NextGen website that they cannot assure quality from batch to batch with more than 50% recycled content, I believe them. I trust that when Valvoline was developing NG, they ran prototype batches with differing amounts of recycled oil, evaluated them, then made a reasoned decision to go with 50%.

If you want to use 100% recycled oil, check out Safety-Kleen, or Conoco-Phillips. C-P has Firebird, which is also a recycled oil.

That claim they make sounds like an slight indictment of recycled oil.

Why don't they go on to detail why they can't assure quality if the recycled product is actually MORE refined than "new" oil.

Also I doubt that Conoco or Safety Kleen (both top notch products with reputations to protect, would offer 100% recycled oil unless the quality was assured.
 
That gets into an area in which differing quality control philosophies of the different companies come into play. Valvoline's allowable variations from the nominal product may be tighter than Safety-Kleen's. Or maybe they're just playing it safe in order to get the product on the market. It has been written in previous NextGen threads that Valvoline is buying the recycled oil from Safety-Kleen.

Most likely a perception issue, but honestly I think the marketing people are making it TOO complicated, or TOO convoluted like they always do.

If the quality is good NO reason to make it 50% only.

These big companies need to stop listing to these over paid consultants and start using more common sense.

And you don't know, you're just assuming going on what you think you know of the process. No, those aren't facts.

Yes, in my wife's Corolla. Why? I didn't answer because it doesn't matter what I use.

Funny you think I'm trying to sell you something. All I'm doing is pointing out is that some of you have no clue what the product is and I'm calling you on it.

Are we reading the same thread? I'm not trying to prove anything other than many of you have no idea what the product is regardless of the information that's available to you directly from Valvoline. Reading some other guy's opinion about it on BITOG does not count as 'facts'.
 
I'm done. You guys go right ahead and believe that you should be rewarded by Valvoline with cheaper prices for taking a chance on their 'used' oil. Enjoy!
