now, I've only been around here a few months,maybe someone with better eyes for this stuff can compare/contrast, but they look darn near identical to me...

Yes, I just reviewed the PQI data yesterday and saw that the adpaks between Valvoline conventional and NG were identical. Valvoline's formulation strategy is easy to understand: Valvoline conventional is their baseline formulation, and NG has the same adpak with 50% recycled basestock. VR1 is Valvoline conventional with extra zddp.

You sorta have the relationship between buyer and seller mixed up here. If Valvoline wants to sell more recycled oil, they should price it so that people reward them with sales.

Yes, in my wife's Corolla. Why? I didn't answer because it doesn't matter what I use.


Glad to hear it. When I see proof its a better value I might jump in too, until then I'll save my money and go with the tried and true.

As far as knowing about the product, I know its 50% recycled, costs more, and isn't as good as some conventional oils sold by other companies. Honestly that's all I need to know to determine its not for me. But use whatever floats your boat, when I see the product is better or cheaper I might give it a try. Until then, no thanks!

Thanks to everyone for the replies, and if I can find the VALVOLINE NEXGEN in 5w20 at the 3 wal marts in my county, I will use it in my civic.
