I won't knock it, but it costs 4-5 dollars more than the "new" oil I usually buy.

Why should we pay more, when there are dino alternatives cheaper and better? Can't waste oil be recycled into something else?

Its still weak. If it comes in SAE 30 I'd consider it for my lawn mower but that's about it.

The fact is that your average American car/driver combination requires a very undemanding lubrication product for their street applications. On top of that, the VAST majority have had the 3,000 mile OC propaganda pounded into their heads for decades. Nearly all used oil being recycled has significant life left in it as is. The base stock is free. Some filtering, blending, additive tweaking and you should have a very inexpensive product that should work just fine in 99% of all US street apps. I'll bet they still make money even after their $20 coupon.
Some People crack me up with the Id rather have new oil stuff, the old oil is refined twice where as crude is refined once and then put into a bottle. So the used oil is refined even more than brand new oil. Who cares if they cost the same, why should it cost less to help conserve resources? Most poeple on this site pay big bucks for the AMSOIL PU PP and tons of other synthetics so why is it such a pain that it costs the same as Valvoline conventional? I dont really get the negative attitude towards this oil. With that said I have used it for 3-4 OCI now and everytime I drain it the oil still looks golden brown and new my car runs great with it so it must be a good oil.

I'm using the NextGen MaxLife in my Town & Country. The engine hasn't blown up yet, so I'm thinking it is working just fine.

I'm all for recycling oil, in fact I bring mine to AAP. Sorry I'm not going to pay more to buy recycled oil especially when it isn't as good as Pennzoil conventional for example. They can easily use waste oil for fuel to heat homes or factories, but don't expect me to use it in my car when there are cheaper and better alternatives.

Just because someone doesn't want to pay more money for an inferior product doesn't mean they aren't green minded. When Ashland decides to 1. Improve the add pack and get the TBN up to snuff, and 2. price it more competitively, then I might consider it. But don't throw stones about whether someone participates in recycling or not just based on the fact that they choose not to buy recycled motor oil that is priced too high for what it is. I personally not only take all our used oil to Advance Auto Parts, we also recycle all our consumer plastic as well as cardboard. There is no pick-up service offered in our area so we have to bin store it and make a run or two to the a local recycle drop-off each month.

Seems like a great way to use it, especially when there are better and less costly products to use in our cars.

i ran maxlife nexgen for 4k miles and found zero debris on my magnetic drain plug.......that has NEVER happened before!!!
For those suggesting Valvoline's products are 'sub-par' somehow based on the metallic additive part of the package/TBN, really are off base quite frankly.
Just because an oil isn't a 'great' candidate for extended OCIs doesn't mean it isn't a quality product for say, 5,000 mile OCIs.

Thanks gentlemen, and I got a jug of MAXLIFE NEXGEN when I got out of work, and got it at AUTOZONE so with my discount, it came to $14.69 for the jug. Sill have some PURE 1 filters and one wix filter so next oil change in the corolla, the MAXLIFE NEXGEN is going in.

^Good deal, you could always get a used oil analysis performed at like 5,000 to see how it's doing.
