Im looking into purchasing an IS250. Not interested in a gas guzzling IS350 as i don't really care for speed.

One concern is that there is a recall or tsb for engine re-haul due to the direct injection causing carbon build up on the valves.

Thoughts?

The new re-designed IS250? 0-60 in 7.7 seconds? Very sexy looks but for the money, I think you get more (more acceleration) with a G37 (it's being discounted 4,000 dollars, you'll pay even less) or the Q50 (G37's replacement.)

If I were interested in a car in that segment, the IS is the car I'd go for. It has a feel of much more quality than other competing cars. It hugs you well and feels great. The problem is that the interior is sized for a small Japanese woman instead of an American man. Feels great, screams quality better than comparable products, but small inside.

Except he stated he doesn't care for speed

My Mom owns a 2001 IS300 and when the 250 first came out she test drove one, she passed on it and kept her IS300. The newest 250 just came out, she test drove it and passed again. She said her IS300 just is way peppier and handles better. This coming from my MOM!!! haha.

I think the only decent IS these days is the 350. I know you want to save on gas or whatever, but you will want the extra get up and go once in a while I am sure. Maybe the Lexus Hybrid hatchback? Nice looking and gets great mileage. I forget the name of the sporty 5 door hybrid but that thing is sweet if your into fuel sipping cars.

Unless you love the shape and don't need much interior space, certainly very little rear legroom, then there is no reason to buy an IS.

In that price range, if you want a fuel efficient Lexus, and can put up with a very slow 0-60 in the 11 seconds range, then look at the CT Hybrid. Better fuel economy, nice styling, more space and practicality, and good handling.

If you simply want comfort, good fuel economy and space, then consider the Camry Hybrid XLE. Great fuel economy, spacious, same performance as an IS250 and also now a sportier drive.
