Yokohama Geolander CV4S review

I recently put a set of these on my CX-5. They’re a new tire that’s all weather rated and good for mild off road use but still decent on road. FANTASTIC tire. They ride smooth and soft, mileage hasn’t suffered, and the snow traction is incredible. They’re pretty quiet too. I’ve now had Nokians, Continentals on this car and these are the best. Each tread block has roughly 5 sipes and the blocks have pretty big voids.

We had a 3 foot snowfall 2 months ago here in Colorado and the snow was halfway up my bumper in spots and I couldn’t get stuck.

Highly recommended if you live where it snows a lot.

Oh, and they’re light weight in each size. That was the selling point for me. 225/65/17 weighs 27 lbs. something like a Wildpeak Trails are 31. Some of the other 3pmsf rated all weather tires in this size are 35 lbs!

I’m seeing good things about this tire on the Outback forum as well. Seem like a milder version of the GO15.

We put these on our 2023 Sienna AWD hybrid, "woodland" edition. Also upsized, so we gained 1/2" ground clearance. Two week Canadian snowboarding road-trip with zero issues; no struggle at any point of the drive. Snow, slush, hard-pack, slick stuff, etc.

Great tires. The choice came down to these and the Nokian Outpost APT (note APT, not AT). Both tires are 3-peak rated, and lightweight for their size / capability, which should help with mpg. I think I went with these over the Nokians due to a better deal/price at the time. Either one seemed like the right choice for our needs.

I’m seeing good things about this tire on the Outback forum as well. Seem like a milder version of the GO15.

I thing the CV4s would be better on road in snow and ice. Much more siping. But the G015 is better off-road.

I had both the Outpost ATP and the Encompass AW01 and while both were decent when new, it only took about 8/32 for the sipes to wear through and the tread block connectors to become exposed and they were useless in ice and snow! Hopefully the Yokes have full depth siping.

Interesting. Not a whole lot of reviews of the ATP, good to know!
