B-S flagged sodium and lead. They did not know the oil type and indicated some use sodium as an additive. Indicated to check back after another 5K run.

Coworker indicated he drained oil into a butter tub which was clean and then to a sampling bottle. There is another UOA I will be posting on his other car, a subaru, which also has high sodium, so there will be no action taken until a direct sample is taken.

That sheared WAY out of grade - Enough to FAIL oil certification. Seems the engine doesnt care - until someone goes Fast & Furious on it one night :)

What oil was used previous?

Pennzoil doesn't use Na as a detergent, so it had to come from another oil.

You sure that wasn't a 5w20 that went in? I don't mind some shearing, however that's a light 20 weight in there now.

With wear numbers like that - why?

PYB 5W30 has shown a propensity to shear down, but has always shown excellent wear numbers.

If you are looking for less shear, go with the 10W30, which is much more shear stable

Margin of safety. One thing a oil has should do is stay in grade for at least 4K in normal service. If you had warranty failure on newish car, the rep could deny, maybe.
