Xfinity Issues

Let me start this by saying Xfinity is the only hardline service available other than att DSL.

Xfinity is the biggest joke of a company hiding behind chat bots and foreign call centers. internet went out today at 1536 hours and has not returned. prior to that it was in and out all day. they just had me pull a new run of RG6 coax across my house to fix a speed issue that ended up being on their end. Wife and I both work from home and lost productivity today and will have zero tomorrow. the earliest they can get techs out is sunday and they’re betting on making a new pull from the box in my neighbors yard in a single day. meanwhile i’m out internet with no other option.

i simply do not understand how xfinity stays in business. they’re the worst provider ive ever dealt with be it changing plans, moving, or tech support. every agent i was passed around to tonight asked for a modem reboot and 10 minutes of my time for it to have the same outcome.

I cannot wait for ATT to finish pulling fiber so that i can throw the xfinity hardware across the desk at a local store and do a burn out leaving their parking lot. what a joke.

Honestly they're both garbage.

Comcast plays games with jacking up their monthly bill, as did AT&T when I had them.

Comcast tried to charge me a monthly modem fee even though I bought it outright, and AT&T did the exact same thing.

Comcast reneged on a $300 credit I was supposed to receive for home Internet along with a $180 credit for our phone service. Thankfully I was so cynical about their offer that I saved the online conversation I had with their rep after I signed up for it.

That 'gotcha' is the only reason why I have Comcast right now.

I already have it on the calendar to cancel service 30 days before our contract ends.

Not 31 days. Not 29 days. It has to be thirty days exactly or else Comcast will either charge an early termination fee or prolong the service for another month at a much higher rate.

Comcast and AT&T are by far the most unethical companies in the mainstream media. I won't even go into how they tried like hell to have Congress force their media sites onto their customers.

Xfinity is fine, here. Problems are addressed very quickly, service teams come out if necessary, and I have never had to deal with CS. My problem with them is that they are almost a monopoly with only AT&T and Sonic being alternatives. People really seem to like Sonic, especially because their CS is in Santa Rosa and not in Karachi. My buddy said when he was on the horn with AT&T CS, he talked to some guy with an East Indian accent who was reading answers off a flow chart and he could hear a baby crying, dogs barking, chickens clucking, and pots rattling. I'm not sure I would put much faith in anecdotes, though.

We have three internet companies in the neighborhood. We use a family-owned local company. Most people do in our neighborhood. Those who use Xfinity say they are very responsive and fast when dealing with issues. However, where Xfinity has a monopoly, they are an absolute nightmare. Competition makes things far better.

Xfinity is very reliable here. It's a good thing because there are zero other high speed providers otherwise.

Internet service providers make the majority of their income off businesses, with business accounts. Home internet is considered a entertainment offering, and doesn't take priority. Work from home isn't taken in to account for residential customers. If you REALLY need a guaranteed uptime, you can change to a business account with a guaranteed response time.

Things happen. If you have a aerial line from a pole, a squirrel could have chewed it, or your neighbor got a new BB gun for Christmas. Neither of which was caused by Comcast. If you have buried lines, they can deteriorate and get water in them. Someone could have ran a stake through it placing a blow up snowman. A mouse may have chewed the lines in the box on the side of your house.

xfinty is pretty good in my area. just need to call them every year to get the best pricing. for those that work from home, you may consider getting a backup like t mobile or Verizon . vary rare both are down at the same time

Oh right. I forgot to mention I have a business account. As soon as they detect a problem I get notified. Usually I don't notice anything. My connection has, as far as I know, not been down for more than a few minutes in the lest 8 years.

Check to see if one of the 5G services is available in your area. I was having problems with Cox and they insisted it was my interior wiring. I tried T-Mobile and it is every bit as good as Cox was (actually more reliable) and half the price.

Reliable here. Been working from home since 2003. Hiccups happen maybe max 4 hrs twice in that period.

I don’t pay them the business fee for priority service so work elsewhere in the two outages.

Xfinity has been reliable in my neighborhood, built ~2002 and all utilities are underground. However, they're the only provider in the area.
$140/month/1.2Gb up/25Mb down. I wish MetroNet was in my area.

10 minutes away is our second office. Xfinity [Business] has been good there too but again, the only providers and the lines are above ground. Early this year one of the lines fell and service around that entire area got cut off, but they fixed it within 4-6 hours. I dumped them anyways for Cogent for a dedicated synchronous lines. Plus we have an actual account manager with Cogent so it's nice having the same account manager for years for our two office locations.

Downtown Chicago, Xfinity is horrible. Luckily being downtown means there are lots of options.
